Hm, a $1 power supply from a company with a ResellerRating of 5 and comments like "Bad power supply", "the power supply runs a bit hot, with the +12 line at around +12.9", a nightmare story from a guy who received the wrong power supply, "I ordered a power supply from them which never worked right", etc. I don't think I'll trust my components to it.

When it comes to a PSU, do not scrimp on it and get a cheapass one. A POS PSU is not a good idea. You'll be lucky to get your PC to boot, and you'll be wondering when it's gonna crap out on you or fry your mobo.

Hi,

I thought along the same lines as FPSguy. I've never bought a PS by itself before (always with the case), but am in the market for a PS now. Cheap price is great provided it is either on the approved list or at least has good reviews. With neither and bad reviews on top, I am reluctant to jump in. Even my cheap parts that will run over this PS would be worth about $100, so it seems wiser to pass.

stockjock, please post your experience with the units when you get 'em.

Very nice for us who live in Houston and are close and get store pickup.

I decided NOT to get greedy and only ordered two.

2*$1.00 = $2.00 + 0.17 tax = $2.17

I'm lucky since Directron is also close to my office as is Amamax.

I immediately thought "I'd never trust a $1 power supply for my computer components."

But, I can think of other uses for the power supply... (other things need 12V power supplies)
Just have to remember which wires to close the circuit across on the motherboard plug..

The Powmax 400watt is actually a pretty decent power supply. I used to run it in my fileserver until I bought a cheaper, quieter 300watt...

powmax sells actually very decent cheap and good psu...
amd and intel approved too.
i have 2 of their 300w ones and they work good.
one of them has dual fans...one front, other back...with monitoring etc.

Cheap power supplies are only good when you get a good one that works. Guys, it's a crap shoot - accept it, don't put in a primary computer, don't put it in a friends computer and don't expect it to last. These deals work for a cheap second computer, a backup or for salvage on the fan and some screws. Don't get me started on other $12/free shipping powmaxs deals........IMHO of course.
