Hello all,

Some info about my system before i get into details. I have a Rampage V Extreme X99; 6850k CPU from Silicon Lottery. 32GB G-SKILL Trident-Z 3600Mhz RAM; 2X EVGA GTX 980TI KINGPIN editions; Samsung 950 Pro 512gb; Samsun 850 EVO 500GB, Seagate 1tb HDD, Corsair AX1500i 1500 Watt Titanium PSU. Also about 1500 worth of water cooling supplies including dual pumps and dual reservoirs, 3 rads, and a zillion fans.

Now the problem happened a few days ago when i was using my computer and it just turned black and uinresponsive. So I shut it down and tooka look at BIOS to be sure something wasnt out of wack. Sure enough only 16 out of 32GB of RAM was posting. So I played around with that for awhile and finally got them all to Post.

Next problem. I couldn't get windows to boot for the life of me. I tried repairing to no avail. I then tried reinstalling multiple times. I was able to get into windows after fresh installs but as soon as I would attempt to install a display driver it would go completely black. I'm typing on this machine right now, I'm just afraid to install a display driver. Im wondering if anybody can shed some light on this crazy problem.. HELP lol

How long did it run before it started crashing?
Try running one video card and see what happens.
What menory timings are you using?
Is anything overclocked?

Originally when the problem started I had the OS (Win 10 Pro x64) on the M.2 . For obvious reasons of course. But then it just crashed all of a sudden. I ended up reinstalling windows like 4 times to no avail. I ended up with it on the 850 evo 2.5 SSD. BUT I disabled my first card and hooked up my monitors to the second card. And, voila. It works. I was able to install a display driver successfully, and run games and other programs.... But there is the looming unfixed problem.... I now have to figure out which is broken. I have tried to hook up the top card again and it wont display anything and gets hung on error code b2. I think that it is either the top PCI slot on my motherboard that's broken.(Hopefully not my CPU lanes themselves) Or it might be the card itself. The card lights up and powers on i checked all power connections. I just cant figure out what couldve caused it. I got this card as a brand new RMA replacement from EVGA and it is an 84.9% ASIC so i really hope it isnt broken.

When the problem initially happened (to answer Ketchup's Q) I had a light OC. I had my CPU @4.2 and the RAM at 3400 with the 3600 XMP timings. I did buy this chip from silicon lottery a few months ago.. About 4 months I think. It was a 4.5Ghz chip (very rare). I did have it set to 4.5Ghz @ 1.3925v fully stable for about 2 months. the temps never exceeded 75c.
I just didnt see the need for such extreme speeds and i slowed it down to 4.2 auto OC on the RAMPAGE (TPU 2 option)...

So since this is a huge watercooled web. I have to invest significant time and some risk just to trouble shoot this situation. I thought I could move the 2 cards together down 1 slot to slots 2, and 4... since they are in parallel waterblocks. I also have a spare R9 290 that I could put in the top slot. Here is an image to give you an idea. Keep in mind this is an old pic and I have a new kit of RAM (red) and it is clean now lol. Any advice would be welcome. link below

Sounds good. Move the video cards and let us know how things turn out.

So... did a TON of troubleshooting. Moved cards around tried a 290. switched slots etc... Card is bad. I figured out it will only display through the sole DVI connector. I can load into windows then I try to start Nvidia control panel. It says that the display Im using is not connected to an Nvidia GPU... Like WTF??? Anyways. Called EVGA , they were very understanding and gave me an instant RMA. (It did take some convincing as it became evident that my tech knowledge surpassed his but YEAH!!!... lol) I should have a new card within a week or two. I just hope they have a 84.9 ASIC there or they better give me a 1080 classified. Those 80+ KINGPINs cost $1049 at launch, and still do on their website.

Anyways all, thank you for the tips and advice as always,
