Probably. If this is really a 400 W supply.

Cheap PSUs often have false power ratings. I am not familiar with this brand, so cannot tell you whether it is good quality.

Matching PSU and system is not an exact science. I think 400W is amply enough for your system and would not be afraid to try it. If you want a more objective analysis, you can try the free version of the eXtreme Power Supply Calculator:

hi there,

tried the lite.. it gives me 560w on 100% usage. i selected q6600, high end mobo, 1 8600gt, 1 ddr2,2 usb, 1 hdd, few more stuff .

i think this is not accurately right, but to extent helpfull..

so wat do u suggest?

psu company tells max the psu can give is 580.. dont no how true is that.

The Intel Q6600 has a design power of 95 Watts, and the 8600GT is around 48 Watts. The rest of the components draw much less power than these two. So I wonder how that 560W number can be arrived at. Makes no sense to me.

Take my own system for example (sig below). I have a 350W Antec P/S. The 3700+ processor has 89W power enveloppe. I have all the components you have, plus 3 hard drives. Still running on integrated graphics, but I have no qualms about adding a 8600GT soon, as it is a low-power card.

Also...

Looking on the web for your P/S part model number,

Look what I found !

I would say, if you have the 400W VIP P/S, try it. If you don't want to take any chances, get a 450W P/S from a first-tier brand.

Is VIP the brand?

Are you in India?

We don't have VIP.

Who's the OEM? What's the UL number (if any) on the unit.

I mean.... if you had a 400W Deer and a PC with on board video, I'd tell you it wouldn't hold up. It's all relative.

Ok. I finally found some pictures of a VIP.

It's an L&C. Same as Deer, Allied, etc. About the worst PSU on the market.

A 430w psu would be just fine for your system. However, you should also be concerned about the efficiency of the psu. Keep in mind a good quality 500w psu will actually cost you less money (in terms of electricity bills) than a 430w antec psu will because it may run more efficiently. I personally don't like antec and I think their psu's are questionable. If it's not OCZ, Tagan, FSP, Seasonic, Silverstone, Corsair, PC Power & Cooling or certain brands of Thermaltake they don't go in the systems I build.

Maybe antec has finally gotten their act together with their newer power supplies, but I've just seen too many of them that are junk. Computer parts are too valuable for people to be shortchanging themselves with a bad power supply, and when they go they'll take half your computer components with them.
