I upgraded from an Alpha PEP66 which got me a whole lot better temps than this new Taisol. I get like 42ºC (right now) while surfing on Anand. It is abnormally warm in here, because my moronic mom thinks its cold outside. (80ºF is cold??? heh)

I'm not having stability problems anymore (has nothing to do with the cooler) and its a HOLE HELL OF A LOT quieter, so I think its probably fine.

my temp idle is 44 deg C and it is fine. full load temp is 48 and rock-solid stable. i don't think it is a real problem, but someone correct me if i am wrong.

intel platform? mid 40's are okay but preffered idle temps are mid 30's... if your running stable and don't want more noise, you should be fine as is...

I wish mine ran at 42C, just so I might hot 1GHz. Duron 600@935MHz, been running around 50C at idle, and up to 56C during gaming. Rock solid stable as can be. Taisol HSF. Florida weather here, so room temp rarely drops below 82F.

Wow, that's really warm. Well my cpu during idle is aobut 42C, and it is ONLY 48C after 24/7 of RC5 processing. It has been running solid for many days without crashing.

Hey If you guys take some 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper(lower if its really rough) tape it to a mirror. spray a little water on it then sand the contact surface of HSF to a nice smooth finish this will lower your temp a degree of 2 if the HSF is not already very smooth. The thermal paste is mainly used too fill in the gaps but not only that. If this surface is sanded smooth their will be less space between the core and HSF thus transferring heat better. Read this awile back and then tried it with a stock HSF I had laying around just for grins. I did a before temp check and after it did drop by 2 degrees. But my testing techniques would not land me any testing jobs either I was just playing around before I used my fop on my new rig Im building.

42 deg C??
I run idle (in Win ME) at 32-33 deg C...

I have a T-Bird 1000@1100 on an Abit KT7A RAID mobo.
My HS/FAN is a PentAlpha155.
System temp is ca. 29-31 deg C.

But... When I run Unreal Tournament, my system crashes after a while.
After a reboot I read the CPU temp to 46-47 deg C. The settings in VIA Hardware Monitor
is "CPU Max Temp 50 degrees". Is this why the system crashes?
(The temp going up above 50)

SiliconVandal,
You really need to ask fellow "Iwill KK266-R" owners running their rigs at the same room temps as you to be completely fair - even then it's only a "comparison"

Ermel,
Your temps are pretty similar to my KT7A/Duron 700@950 (1.775v) - it will hit 46C after continuous gaming though or 49/50C with Prime95

Temp is 34C right now in ME with ICQ, Dwyco, IE5 and OE running - that's since this morning too.

Hi again!

Seems like I've succeded in finding good cooling for my CPU.
Many others I've talked to run a lot higher temperatures both at idle and load.
I solved my problem with Unreal Tournament crashing after a while, by adjusting the "CPU Max Temp"
in VIA Hardware Monitor to 60 degrees C, instead of 50 (default).
It seems my CPU hits 50 degrees when playing, and therefore the system shut down before.

Yesterday I tweaked my video device. I tried different settings for the GPU and memory, and to my
surprise my system runs rock-solid with both set to max! (220,364 MHz, instead of 200,333 MHz)

Is this common?

42 seems ok for a hot room to me
i gots a tbird800@1000 at around 35 do normal things like icq, aol im, surfing... but i have a fop32-1 heatsink with 60 to 80mm converter with a panaflo fan, very quiet!
i really wanted to get a forged taisol since their smaller version worked so well and was cheap too...

No, im running an AMD Rig Supradude (hece the Iwill KK266? heh . I have lapped the heatsink with 600 grit water-sand paper (Did this before you posted it...btw..) and am using Artic Silver 1. I have a ton of cooling too, and my CPU is at 1.8V. I can't imagine why these numbers are so bad!

I have the IWill KK266 with Bios 2.27 (Turk), Promise Raid and a Taisol CGK742092 with a Globalwin Fan (NOT the FOP 38 type). My idle temps are 37C and 42C full load for a TBird 800 at 980.
