Holy Shiznit. They've just dropped this TV another $ 100 bucks. It is now $ 549 Shipped to your door for a 42" 720p LCD! They've since added shipping but the net is a total drop of $50. Anyhoo. Like many of you, I've been looking for an HDTV deal for about 3 months awaiting BF. But some of the ads are already out and I'm not liking what I see. I took the plunge this morning and added the 2 yr extended warranty. I'll report back in...

Any opinions on this? Newegg's 10/21/08 Shell Shocker is a 42" LCD HDTV. Yeah, it's 720p but damn, it's 42" with free shipping and no tax (for some). IIRC Digital Lifestyles used to make flat panels for the medical industry. At $ 599 shipped this seems like a deal to match BF deals IMO....

I'm very tempted. I've been in the market for a 42" LCD for my den, and this looks pretty hot to me. Not too sure on the brand and all though.

good price but looks cheap. that remote.. doesnt have a look of quality to it.
plus be prepared to buy it as soon as it starts being sold for that price. this thing has been posted about over at fw so you know it will sell out pretty fast

yea i dont know what to think of this deal. Price seems great (even if a cheaper tv could be had on BF, the waiting in line at 6am is not worth it to me), but i can find very little information about corion or digital lifestyles. http://findarticles.com/p/arti...is_200701/ai_n17104871 that and the reviews from newegg are about all i can find. Anyone have any knowledge about the companies or tv? Newegg offers a $50 1 year warranty (and a $70 2yr and 99 4yr), but from what i have read today, it sounds like plasma and lcd have been over produced, and with the slowing economy there is a significant surplus that is now being conveniently discounted for the holiday season that preempts the end of analog broadcasts. So seems to be a lot of speculation that this price range could become more and more common, and a more reputable set may come up, or costco with its 2 year warranties may have some good tv deals soon. Soooo what to do what to do......

edit: from neweggs extended warranty
LCD TVs are serviced at your home or place of business. Should repair need to occur at an authorized repair facility, shipping charges will be covered

$585, really? Is it on clearance?

Yes, and all the Louisville area targets are sold out

The Olevia at Target is on Clearance B&M only. I went to the store last night in Southern Cali and was about to purchase it. But I didn't get the extra 10% with new Target Card. So I walked away. Good thing since I really don't need a tv haha. So I just save myself $700.

Remember if you are going to get the Olevia from Target to buy the extended warranty for it, because Olevia has gone bankrupt and you'll have problems getting it repaired if something goes wrong. Big discussion on SD about the target deal, some people getting the floor model for less than $500

I can't decide on this deal. I keep going back and forth. With free shipping I may have already pulled the trigger(I guess $500+ is a mental barrier for me).

Also with the brand. I was planning on trying to get a good Black Friday deal on a 32". But the deals have been horrible so far, I would like to get one for $300 or under. But a 42" for $500 is just an amazing deal.

I know what you mean. It would be a lot harder to resist if it still had the free shipping.

Most Black Friday deals; that you are not going to be able to get towards or after Christmas; are going to be the same kind of brand as this deal suspect, but not beyond the means of producing a respectable tv. In other words, I doubt you are going to do that much better on black Friday, there are going to be a bunch of Dynex, AOC, Sylvania, Element, etc brands on black Friday for cheap prices, but the chance of finding a Samsung, Sony, Sharp at $550 for a 42", well plan on being first in line, or it ain't gonna happen. Should say probably won't happen even if you are first in line.

MHO, YMWV, etc.

My sentiments exactly. I hope I'm not sorry. I'm not a videophile so I don't think I will be. For me personally, it was *just* enough to jump. I've been on the bubble and needed a push...

Wow. This is ludicrous. I ordered this TV Thursday first thing in the morning. It was on my porch today at 11am. How the heck.....? I am in Ri, maybe it was from the Jersey warehouse?

I am not a videophile so I can not be trusted. I'm a regular guy who's been essentially deal searching for an HDTV (37-42") for 3 months. I already have this thing hooked up and I must say, I am quite pleased. In your living room you've got nothing to compare it to right? The HD looks fantastic. The other channels not so much (kind of compare it to a TV tuner on your PC) but as I understand it, that is common across the board. Speakers are excellent. It has 2 HDMI ports (one for your Cable, one for your console/DVD). And the real estate on this thing is just awesome. Don't even talk to me if the thing breaks in a year - but that's why you buy the extended warranty in this particular case. In addition, I know the economy is tough, but at the price of this TV, you can almost consider it a disposable. If it lasts me 5 years I will be happy at the price I paid looking at what I now have in my living room. Glad I made the purchase.

Apparently sold out as of right now too.

TV + extended warranty that's $650, you can buy a Panasonic for $700 at Frys.
A cheap no name HDTV made with cheap part is not a hot deal IMHO.

$700 + shipping....So $743, for me, do they offer extended warranties? In home service like the Newegg deal?
