It's only EDTV (852x480, but will accept HD input up to 1080i), but I haven't seen anything for less anywhere. You have to be a Costco member to get this price. The brand is SVA; it's probably made in China (if that matters to anyone). Four week delivery time (I'm pretty sure they sell this set in-store as well, but I don't know if it has the discount there).

Run, run far away from this tv. If anyone is seriously considering this I would almost be tempted to give you the money to buy a real tv. Emphasis on almost.

Whoa, slow down on the kettle there pot. Looking at your sig, it seems that you spent all that money on tv's, rims, and a stereo system for a truck...

To each his own, but $2k for a plasma? You get what you pay for, and a $2k plasma is most likely a waste of money.

you can get a pretty sweet plasma for under 2,700. Save up a little more money, look elsewhere and look for a good brand
ie Panasonic.

$2k for a TV in 2004? What is the problem?

My father, in the mid 60s, bought a Magnavox color TV (with stereo ra-d-e-o and record player) for $800. It was a p.o.s. then and ever after. It scarred me in regards to video for decades. Only the advent of DVD cured me. So $2K for a TV today is no big deal.

I am not familiar with the brand being offered at Costco, but a top of the line EDTV from Sony or Panasonic can be obtained for under $3K, so a not-so-top of the line model for $2K may be a good deal. Two years ago, I purchased, from Costco, a Sony XBR450 crt edtv for $2k. It is still working fine. If I was in the market today for a tv, it would be a 42" edtv plasma.

$595 more and you can have what is arguably the best 42" ED plasma on the market. VisualApex is a top notch etailer to boot.

No doubt, the panasonic is way better. But buying from costco just gives you a peace of mind that no online retailers manage to come close.

This is true. You will NEVER find an e-tailer that has a return policy like Costco.

Gotta go with the panny on this one.
I liked the panny so much, I bought 2!
The pq on the SVA is marginal at best. The internal electronics are no where near as good as the panny.
However, since Costco will let ya return it, no questions asked, I guess you could take it for a spin.
Visual Apex is probably the best e-tailer for plasmas.
Their prices and service are great.

If someone likes it, I highly recommend the purchase because of the warranty. Not even a plasma can touch the quality of my XBR
