It will downscsale HDTV to 480p. I once had a different brand that was EDTV and to tell the truth, on HDTV broadcasts the picture was so sharp I could not believe it was not full HDTV instead of EDTV unless I looked at some others in stores. But if I recall the Sylvania's contrast ratio is lower than the one I had.

If it's the same model that Meijer had on BF then I'd stay far far away from it. Contrast ratio is a measly 1000:1 Most of the plasmas were returnd to my local store within couple of days from BF.

Amazon has it for $699.00 shipped and there is a rebate for a free wall mount. Search FW for Sylvania and Amazon to find the deal.

I think this is the same model Sears has for 1,000 If so and you pricematch you can buy at your local Sears for 699.99 less $30 for a total of 669.99, which would make this a good deal even if only EDTV. The reviews on Amazon are much better than I would expect.

Not very hot. Plus sylvanias look like crap. At least compare it to some other tvs before you purchase it so you know what picture you're getting.

For some reeason I cannot edit my comment above re price matching at Sears so will post correction here. Although it looks like the models are the same, the Sears model number is different so Sears probably will not match.
