42 U.S.C. 666 = Mark of the Beast?

In the spirit of making your Drivers License a de facto National ID Card - 42 U.S.C. 666 has recently been amended to require states to obtain Social Security numbers before they can issue drivers licenses.

It's astonishing to me that this move toward something that so resembles the Mark of the Beast is taking place under U.S. Code 666.

Good grief!!!!!! Should they SKIP the number to please everyone who can't understand that 666 doesn't mean evil wherever you see it??

While we're at it:

1) You can't buy anything that rings up $6.66
2) Every book you read that has a lot of pages in it will skip 666 and go straight to 667
3) When your odometer reacher 665, it won't go to 666...it'll skip over to 667

Geez, aren't there more important things to worry about?

any building that has 14 floors minimum has 13 floors. i've heard of people that won't stay on the 14th floor of a building because it is really the 13th floor.

I just cited it as another idiocracy with a number that has managed to become ingrained into our culture. 666 is no more or less odd than the number 13's phobia, it just has religious undertones that probably get people all bent out of shape. I don't know the reasoning behind the dislike for the number 13.

13 is one of my lucky numbers. It plays a key figure in my winning big game lottery ticket.

I am not ranting about the uses of the number 666, it is the association of this infamous number with a move toward a National ID Card that I find interesting.

It is surely coincidence, as is the "666" found in consumer barcodes. example

What I want to know is, how is the institution of a law to create a national ID card "something that so resembles the Mark of the Beast"?

The mark of the beast is either on your right hand or your forehead, I think that was stated very specifically.

your drivers license is not attached to your hand or forehead.

Obviously this is not the mark of the beast since we are not in the midst of the Great Tribulation. However, this is a type (or precursor) to the Mark.

Hey PastorDon!!!!!
Couldja please change the thread title to "Name that Beast" ???

We could get more people to add to this, like:

6SIX6 - Dance mix of the Beast

667 - Number of the Son of the Beast

29A - Hex[idecimal] of the Beast

So, like Mark v.09beta?

What the hell is the significance of the number 666 anyway? What is evil about it? Did 666 demons follow satan or something, or is it just a random number?

Hey, no need to bash, everybody. :| I'm not religious, but I too find it a mighty strange coincidence that this takes place under bill # 666. The number has connotations for a large number of Americans, and whoever did this should have realized that, and maybe decide to do this under some other bill #, if only for political reasons. There's no need for everybody to be assholes.

PastorDon, what's that barcode thing? I couldn't read the text at the bottom of the image. I saw that there's two thin lines at the beginning, middle, and end of every barcode. This makes perfect sense to me as something that would be desirable in barcodes. Do these two thin lines represent 6's?
