so.4400 has an exra 1 mb of cache. I was looking and couldn't find any reviews comparing amd's 4400 with 1mb and 4200 with 512kb of cache.

I just want to know what the difference is. Pricewise it's only $60 or so,but 4400 are mainly out of stock.
Are there any reviews, tests that can show what an extra 1mb does?

There's nothing!! I am not looking to get asnwers like " see sandiego vs venice" or "yes" or "5%" or "get 4400,that's what I am getting...". Those people don't even own the cpu's!

I am trying to get real world benchmarks from 4200 vs 4400.

Maybe someone with those chips can put some benchmarks in here. I sure tons of people will be glad to see if extra cache is really worth it

I don't think you're going to find anyone with both cpus thats, why you find the comparison between a venice and san diego. There have been a few 4200+ reviews but haven't seen one for a 4400+ yet.

No,what would be good is if someone with 4200 would post their benchmarks and someone with 4400. It would give others an idea, atleast.

Definitely go for the 4400+ (Toledo core)

The price difference isn't that great and the extra L2 will come in handy.

will...would...should...There's no proof! I've yet to see any difference. I am in Canada,so our prices are 30% higher. 4400 on backorders with no estimate date. Price difference is $80-90cdn.
According to AMD website, the difference is 2-3%(taken from their benchmark section). It's like an extra 10 seconds in rendering 2 hour movie. Is it worth $80? Not to me!

Tons of people with x2s in here and no one posted anything. WHY???!!!

I just found 4800 vs 4200. Not what I wanted, but I was surprised by the difference 4800 makes-almost none! Performance difference between 4800 and 4200 is so small! AND I am sure it's not because of the cache size but because of extra 200mhz!!!

You know,I think I'll be buying a 4200. After spending 5 hours reading different reviews I found it's just not worth an extra $80

Good choice. The 4400+ price premium is not worth it!! 20% more dollars for what? Certainly not anywhere near 20% performance. My guess is 0-5% depending on benchmark, more often than not 0% since only a few apps saw benefit with extra cache in venice vs. SD testing which most certainly can be extrapolated and applied to dual core.

Now, if AMD's distributors were selling 4400+ at what AMD said they would $580 USD instead of $650 USD then it's a no brainer IMO..only $40 more money or about 8% more money... not scaling perfect price/performance wise but close enough to have "the king" fully loaded cache chip.

OCing less cache chips like the 4200/4600 may see a benefit too from what I've seen..4600 is WR holder in PCmark.. 4400 Chip get's hotter with 2MB and has more transistors to fail to reach high clocks.

I got lucky and picked up the 4400+ for 546.00 from MarkFW900 who bought it from Jpeyton (who never used it) and oc'd it mildly on an Abit AV8 for a few weeks before I boght it...

546.00 is where the damn OEM chip should be in price, IMO...at 620-650 for retail chip it is nowhere near worth the cos, IMO...
