News in the last day points so far to the conclusion that the 43 Mexicans recently kidnapped are all dead:

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/07/world/americas/mexico-missing-students/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

This is ISIS level savagery in a nation next to the US. These are the people kidnapped by police and handed over to a gang so that they wouldn't be involved in a protest, their kidnapping ordered by the mayor and/or his wife.

And this is why I don't visit Mexico. Hidden behind a thin facade of beaches and cocktails its underbelly is rotten to the core. http://www.transparency.org/country#MEX

Mexico is a huge dump. For the life of me I cannot see why anyone would go there or allow their children to go on spring break there>

Yep - a guy around here decided to drive his motorcycle through Mexico on the way to the World Cup. He only made it part of the way through Mexico before he was killed, chopped up and body parts packed into an oil drum. Sounds pretty gory except that I remember seeing pics of guys who were flayed alive - which makes getting killed and then dismembered look tame.

Pretty sure we're unique since we are a first world country bordered by a 3rd world.

Mexico is a big country but from what I've seen it's a dump. Shame really since they have such cool things to see there.

When "ISIS level savagery" crosses our border?
Where sheep flock, the shepherds will follow.

Look at Chicago's daily shootings. We seem incapable of addressing violence.

Hey asshole, do you think the people there enjoy living in a corrupt Narco State?

Don't try to help, or even show the least bit of sympathy for 43 innocents murdered, just pass snap judgement on an entire nation because its problems threaten to ruin someones little Spring Break plans..

Your soul is seemingly the dump; sorry.

Improving economic conditions in Latin America and South America would go a long way towards stemming our problem with illegal immigration.

How are we going to improve the lives of 552 million people?

I mean... we aren't even doing that to curb the violence in Chicago. If we can't do it for ourselves, how do we do it for the entire Western Hemisphere?

We can't. Which is why that other person's statement is a false argument. Those nations can only improve when changes (especially economic changes) come from within rather than being pushed from without by some foreign power.

If we're going to be sending factories to their countries, we might as well send them south instead of west. We send foreign aide to these countries, add strings that push policies which have been shown to improve economies. Talk to developmental economists and find out what polices work, etc. Will results happen overnight? No. But I find the position that we can't do anything to be rather dubious.

We've been pissing away TRILLIONS of dollars overseas to "Fix" nations south of the border and across the world. No amount of US tax payer money is going to stop the violence linked in the OP's article and make it go away for good. You can pretend that foreign aid welfare will magically fix things in these nations which are dysfunctional but it won't and has not. Change will only come when the people in Mexico decide to change their nation for themselves. Also, there is no "We" who directly sends factories anywhere in this country. If a manufacturing business decides to export its production capabilities abroad then they will go where they can get the best deal to setup shop and not have to deal with being shaken down by corrupt government officials.

We don't care because it involves black and poor people. That's the truth. Until it hit the white middle class/rich this issue will never be addressed.

Yeah, because we can help them stop putting up with rampant corruption and squalor that they seem to revel wallowing in. Look at Argentina, they would rather bitch about the UK than deal with the corrupt assholes in their own government.

You can't improve something which people don't want to improve on their own. You can't make a horse drink.

the demand from American druggies for their "recreational drugs of choice" is the cause of this and nearly every other violence related problem in Mexico.

We can't improve the economic conditions in the US..what makes you think we could with another country?
:whiste:

On another note..I've heard vigilante justice is working in Mexico.

the non-sensical war on drugs which creates a huge black market where tons of money can be made is the cause of this and nearly every other violence related problem in Mexico.
