No its not but who really gets a stock system (ie less the warranties and the higher end processors) tho? Bump the system up to $2k and 45% means a lot...

Ya but I hate the 3 year warrenty. Personally, I think a 1 year minimum warrenty is enough for me . And they give me useless software to boot. Cut the software, and make the warrenty like 2 years and it will be a hot deal.

I keep trying to add the 45% off coupon ZQ... to a configured Inspiron 6000 in my cart but it won't take. Is the coupon now expired?

edit:
Oh, duh - I have to use the 'WQ...' coupon, not the one in the picture, eh?

Extended warranties are well worth it for laptops. The components are not as easy (or cheap) to swap out as they are with desktops.

I'm glad I got the extended warranty on my wife's 600M 15 months ago. Her hard drive just failed and Dell sent a replacement with minimal hassle.

As for software, some of it you can select not to load when you buy. For the rest, just reinstall windows fresh when you get the laptop. Sure you'll have to d/l a few drivers, but it will be worth it in the end.

Or just uninstall all the stuff you dont need from the ADD/REMOVE programs list.

Some components are hard to replace, but hard drives aren't

anyone ever tested dell's accidental warranty before?
besides honesty and integrity, what could stop a a person from smashing their laptop on the ground 2.5 years after they bought it. would a 600 or 700m even be made anymore?

If they are like Toshiba's accidental warranty policy, its one time a year thing. I'm sure they figure in things like this.

Hmmm good point

Just had to have a notebook motherboard replaced for the second time within 2.5 years so I asked the Dell tech how many times repairs had to be made before Dell would replace it as a lemon and he said 5 repair calls and they continue making any given model for 3 years after they are no longer avail on the Dell site. I guess after that they would replace with the next step up, but did not ask.

hmmmm, what I am saying is that a preconfiged 6000M laptop has nothing in it and it is $1900. With $100 upgrade, you will probably get a 7200rpm hd and thats it to make it to 2k laptop. 45% of $100 is $45. So you pay additional $65 more and the laptop is still not loaded with hardware. you still get an integrated video card. When they had the $750 off $1499 laptop, a comprable config for 6000M sold for under $800 with dedicated graphic card
