Yes, I know they do have road circuits in Nascar but it'd be just funny if they used the regular oval but went in the opposite direction. Just think about the potential for confusion

Why would it be confusing if they run on road courses every year? If you haven't noticed Watkins Glen goes clockwise as well.

Jebus it's a JOKE! Not intended to be an entirely accurate representation of reality!

That will probably hurt sales.

Maybe I'm ignorant, but there are people who purchase a certain car brand based on how they perform on the NASCAR circuit?

"Win on Sunday, sell on Monday." Been true for decades.
That hasn't been true for at least 10 years. It's called templates in NASCAR. Check in to that and get back with me later.

Out of curiousity, which brand tends to be on top then?

GM has won the most races, therefore they are the biggest manufacturer. Of course they also have the most entries.

It's possible that NASCAR fans who vote online are more progressive?

Have you actually SEEN those cars go around the road courses? They look about as graceful as a pig dancing in high heels. Those damn things wallow into corners like my old Camry

What do you expect of primitive race cars? Hell, it's 3400lbs, which is pretty damn heavy for a "racecar" already. My point was to show him that they don't only run on counter clockwise ovals.

For the most part yes. It's more of a sponsership thing than anything.

Edit: And yes I do not like them entering, call me a redneck if you want, doesn't bother me.

What's the reasoning for not wanting them to enter the sport?

I don't see how it will have any ill effect. GM & Ford spend a lot of money there and Toyota will be no different; and I don't think Toyota would outspend them either. NASCAR is full of checks & balances so I doubt Toyota would be able to run away with the championship either.

I can't possibly think of one bad reason for Toyota entering hte sport. Educate me.

I just don't like Toyota and its their own fault. Their marketing department can kiss my ass.

On the other hand, I'd gladly buy a Silverado if I needed a full size truck

For statistical purposes, I drive a Japanese car

well that's different. I understand if you dont' support the team and want to see them lose....but why wouldn't you want them competing in the series? In fact, you'd probably feel better if Toyota competed and lost horrible to either GM or Ford.

Watkins Glen & Infineon don't count?

Don't they usually bring out different drivers for those circuits (apart from the famous ones like Tony Stewart & Jeff Gordon -- who are masters of the road course anyhow)? I know Boris Said (a prominent road racer in the US) races for some NASCAR teams only on the road courses.

Yeah, that's true. NASCAR is all about making the most of low-tech when you think about it. Toyota makes things overly complicated (most other import brands included) whereas domestics tend to make the most of proven (read: old) tech.

So, whats so exciting about watching cars go around in circles?

Formula 1 is the true ultimate racing as far and driving and technology.

I just can't see myself watching more than a few laps of Nascar.
