For the most part yes. It's more of a sponsership thing than anything.

Edit: And yes I do not like them entering, call me a redneck if you want, doesn't bother me.

You're a racist too.

You are a complete dumbass but that never stops you from having an opinion. You can't be racist against a car company.

He doesn't want them entering because they are Japanese. That it self is racist.

do you even know the difference between a persons Nationality and a persons race??
that being said since when is japanese a race?

No, he's argueing that he's a racist. He's implying that the japanesse do everything better than us sad ol americans. A racist tool is what he is.

Would I want a Japanese built Legacy vs. one built in Indiana? What's the difference so long as its the car I want. Labor is labor, its all about quality control.

Yes, many people still search for and buy only Japanese built Camrys, and having had my hands on quite a few of both Jap and US built Camrys I can understand why. The Jap built Camrys are simply better built.

So let me get this straight. An American team and Japanese team both get the same parts to assemble two identical cars. Assuming the same quality control the Japanese car is just somehow better?

And, even if that were true, why on earth would Toyota continue to open factories in the US if their reputation was to be put on the line?

Futhermore, if it was true how have Toyota's quality and reliability remained so high given the increasingly growing number of models assembled in the US?

"Why on earth would Toyota continue to open factories in the US..?"
Because they can pay the workers in cheap US dollars. The dollar has lost more than half its value against the yen in 20 years. Also, they avoid import duties. In other words, they make more money by building cars in the US.
I think the Nascar fans just realize that the US is not really the best anymore, and it hurts to be shown that.
Look at Cart or IRL, these are American based series, that are now dominated by foreign drivers. Look at baseball, dominated by latin players. Basketball now has a huge influx of foreign players. America's dominance of the world is diminishing, and it makes Americans nervous. Nascar is one of the few things people can look to and see America dominate.
Just as Toyota beat Detroit with small cars, then medium size cars, then small trucks, then Lexus luxury cars, then SUVs, it's just a better company with better engineering and production.
Get used to it.
And Nascar fans are rednecks, do you remember all of the people booing and throwing beer cans when Jeff Gordon won a race? He's American, just not a true southern redneck. Can't wait to see the reaction when Michael Waltrip wins a race in a Toyota!

That is utter and complete BS.

And don't use the term "Jap", you ignoramus.

Don't be such an ignoramus yourself. FYI, I abbreviated the term "Japanese" to "Jap" just as I abbreviated the term "United States" to "US".

Yeah..I don't see what the big deal is personally.

Of course you don't , because you're ignorant. Jap is a racist name that has been around for a long time, is it also ok if we abbreviate American to cracker?

Great example of the 46% who don't want Toyota in Nascar.

http://www.wimp.com/pranked/

Listen to this racist. These people are just like this man.

Again I am saying the 46% are like this man, not most people in Nascar who are good people.

Sure, go ahead and call me ignorant, but it doesn't make me so. I am not racist at all and I love learning about many different cultures. However, I just don't see how Jap is that negative of a word. If I use it in daily life (which I don't, but then again I rarely ever have to say even Japanese) it is because I just merely want to abbreviate Japanese.

And the abbreviation for American would be yank, which many foreigners use when discussing us. I don't care either.

I think people are just too hung up on being "politically correct" these days.

Edit: So DVK916, you think I am a racist simply because I don't feel that Jap is an offensive word?

Second entry down.

How fvcking old are you people anyway.

Nevermind that you're too ignorant to recognize the racial slur, but the simple fact that you argue it with somebody who asked you to stop (for whatever reason) means that you're either twelve, or just really stupid.

I don't know which is worse, your general insensitivity, or your complete lack of knowledge of the automobile business - your arguements about Japanese parts being made better than American parts is completely baseless.

You people are simply too damned sensitive. Jap and Nip both came about as simple abbreviations of Japanese and Nipponese...and you know it. If you want to make it racist that is your issue. They called Germans Krauts and other interesting names but those aren't racist.....at least Jap and Nip are acutal abbreviations. If you want to call me a cracker go right ahead as I will simply laugh at you for being a dumbass. I am of German descent too so go ahead and call me a Kraut or Jerry it sure isn't going to bother me.

BTW, the more people bitch and moan about terms like Jap the more I am going to be inclined to use them. Grow some damned skin. This goes right along with the whole Oriental thing...that one is even funnier to listen to people bitch about.

That's the dumbest arguement I've ever heard.

That term originated back in the second world war.

The fact that you're not offended by it, doesn't mean that other people aren't offended by it. Whatever happened to common courtesy.

"Well I like saying jap! yuk, yuk, yuk!!!" Dumbass.

Some black people call each other "n1gger" all the time. Doesn't make it right.

If you don't recognize the historic significance of the term "jap", then you were asleep in history class.

Well I am so sorry (for you) that you choose to live your life in the past and to constantly seek to be offended.

To clarify ONE LAST TIME, I don't use the term "Jap" to be offensive, it is mearly an abbreviation. Since you seem to have searched out a definition that proves that it IS a racist term, I have done the same to prove it is NOT a racist term:

WordNet (r) 2.0 [wn]
Jap
n : a person of Japanese descent [syn: Nip]
WordNet (r) 2.0 [wn]
Nip
n 2: a person of Japanese descent [syn: Jap]

Now TPAD.

It is not relavant were those words come from, fact is it offends people to day and is racist. The N word the most vile word in the english language, has non offensive origins as well. It literally means the color black. But today the word has taken on a new meaning, a meaning of hate and racism. Like the word Jap which is now a hatefull term.

If it doesn't take any real talent why don't you enter in a couple of races make $5-10 million and retire?

:disgust: Wow, considering the number one hit across two other dictionaries refers to the term Jap/Nip as being derogatory....

It doesn't really matter if you meant it to be offensive or not, the fact of the matter is, it's become a derogatory word ever since the world war, and has been ingrained in society. It has nothing to do with "living in the past" as you so put. It's taken on a new meaning, maybe you don't realize it, but the rest of the world does.
