For the most part yes. It's more of a sponsership thing than anything.

Edit: And yes I do not like them entering, call me a redneck if you want, doesn't bother me.

why? afraid they'll kick ass?

You people are simply too damned sensitive. Jap and Nip both came about as simple abbreviations of Japanese and Nipponese...and you know it. If you want to make it racist that is your issue. They called Germans Krauts and other interesting names but those aren't racist.....at least Jap and Nip are acutal abbreviations. If you want to call me a cracker go right ahead as I will simply laugh at you for being a dumbass. I am of German descent too so go ahead and call me a Kraut or Jerry it sure isn't going to bother me.

BTW, the more people bitch and moan about terms like Jap the more I am going to be inclined to use them. Grow some damned skin. This goes right along with the whole Oriental thing...that one is even funnier to listen to people bitch about.

Once again, Ronstag...

Cause Toyota invented a race car that can turn right as well as left...

Watkins Glen & Infineon don't count?
The last time I watched one of those races it turned into a rolling junkyard. I have never seen so many accidents in a race before.

Try driving 200mph around a slippery track with 43 other people so close together that the guy in 30th place is only a few tenths of a second behind the person in first.

Now do it for 3 hours.

btw, I've been a motorsports fan for more than forty years, including NASCAR, and I think it's great Toyota is going to expand their NASCAR participation. It's healthy for the sport.

I lived in Japan when an American was the Sumo chanpo

and all the Japanese hated him

Nah. I'd glady support Honda if they wanted to race in NASCAR. I liked Honda when they were involved with CART racing....hated Toyota though. For me its about product association.
fvcks no. honda does not need to enter NSACAR! honda needs to go back to it's glory days like the mid-80s in F1.

woohoo! good move by honda!

Why I don't like Toyota in NASCAR:
Thier engines don't even loosely resemble anything that they ever put in a production vehicle. They developed an engine from a clean sheet of paper with none of the grandfathered in limitations from the stock engine that it started out to be.

What I really worry about:
When Porsche got into Can Am racing, the action was good, but they dominated a series with 700-800HP cars by bringing in a high budget 1100HP car. Nobody cared to watch a race with the same winners every time.

So you're saying the American car makers will get SPANKED?

I want to see it. And I want to see the top 10 finishers be Toyota. And I want to laught about it for days. What a great day that will be.

Which means that 54% are either in favor or don't give a fsck.

Looks like Toyota is in.

Maybe 200 laps, domestic cars will win.. BUT, if the race is 201 or more laps, Toyota will win.. Because they are more reliable..

I don't believe Ford or Dodge's NASCAR engines resemble anything that was put into their production cars, not in the past 15 years anyway. Let's face it, teh stock cars are nothing like the production cars they are named after. And hte engines used by the domestic teams are pretty much fresh from a clean sheet of paper. And how many of those engines are built & modifeid by 3rd party companies (like DEI for example).

I do agree on your second point, but I don't think that will happen in NASCAR as they are very quick to change the rules to even out the playing field.

Toyota doesn't want to compete for the competitive atmosphere. They want to outspend everyone. Their F1 budget is larger then Ferrari's. Imagine that budget in NASCAR.
