4830 or 4850? Need help!

Why even bother with a 4830 when you can get a 4850 for $105-$115 with current deals? That is close enough to these $50-80 deals on lower end cards to just take the plunge for an extra $30 and get the better card and not have to worry about it.

4850 is what I'd say is 'entry' level now to play in the big boys club. Anything lower than that you are either pinching pennies too much or don't realize how much of a bang for the buck the 4850 really is at the $100ish price mark.

For your older PC the HD 4830 is about all you'd need. The extra for the HD 4850 wouldn't be worth it - I doubt you'd notice a difference with the resolution you'd play at and a an X2 4200+. Plus it uses less power, which might also be a concern for you.

Its still going to be WAY better than the card you are replacing.

If you look at updated benchmarks, the 4830 is only 1-5% slower then the 4850 which leads to the conclusion that it might not be worth the 15-40% price premium.
