4850 and Company of Heroes

As you can see, my rig is more than capable of running Company of Heroes without lag but it unfortunately does.
In missions when it gets pretty intense with explosion and 30 units on screen, it dips to about 8-15 fps which is unbearable

Well you could certainly get better performance by sticking a Phenom (9850 or 9950) in your rig. But I have a pretty similar setup as you, except a much weaker video card. So far I've played a little CoH and I haven't noticed my framerate drop that low even with many units on screen. I do, however, notice a drop in framerate when I start moving the camera around and increasing my viewing distance of the landscape (DUH!). In the next few days, on my day off, I'll bootup CoH and get some real numbers for you.

I never had any framerates issues in CoH and fairly high graphics settings with my old 8800GTS, except for maybe using a dozen Barrages on the exact same spot simultaneously, and I don't have any issues now either (so it's not a Catalyst issue).

CPU bottleneck maybe? It's a fairly physics intensive game once the explosions and such get going.

Have a 4870 and 4400+ X2

will occasionally notice a stutter which I think is due to physics and CPU limitation

I don't see any drop like you've mentioned unless I start missing with the camera and move it around changing it from its default angle

q6600 and 4850 here. I'm not seeing any performance issues but I'm also not using a fraps monitor. What are you getting within the performance test of COH itself?
