4850 framerate drop

I've been playing CoD4 with my new 4850 and sometimes the fps will drop to 4 or 5 for a few seconds, go back to up normal fps (30-60), and go back down for a few seconds, then stop. This happens rarely, I've only seen it twice in the last few days of playing. But I don't know what's causing it and if it should be a concern. The temp is around 75 at load.

Temp isn't the problem if that is your max, neither could it be your amount of memory but my guess is CPU. It might be a C2D but the E6300 at stock isn't quite the correct partner for an HD4850. Make sure there aren't any unnecessary background processes running. Have you thought of overclocking your chip? Right now my CPU would run circles around yours and I wouldn't even consider pairing it with an HD4850...

It could be your hard drive paging something.

It probably is the cpu. It's running at the stock speed of 1.86 ghz. I've tried overclocking it, but even at 2 ghz oc the core temps are around 70C, way too hot. I already have an aftermarket hsf on the cpu, so I guess I'll just have to fiddle with lower voltages on it. But I'm not sure how much overclocking I can get out of my E6300.
