*sigh* It looks like $309.99 is now the de facto MSRP. That's the price for all of the 4870s at teh Egg, and it also seems to be the price at TD/CompUSA. Even VisionTek's own online shop wants $309.99 for one (btw, they do seem to be in stock over there).

Well, given the fears of availability due to GDDR5, I suppose it could have been worse than a $10 increase.

Given what was available in that price range just 6 months ago...it's a fantastic deal.

NCIX has cards in stock last I checked for $282.xx + ship. I've had really good luck with them and I'm impressed with their customer service.

$295 - $299 on these 4870's

I wouldn't trust or buy from a site that arbitrarily lists the 4870's so-called "market price" as $350 or $400, then sells it for $300 and touts their spectacular "savings."

Best Buy is still selling the Visiontek 4870 at $299, although it's probably out of stock. Still, I'm pleasantly surprised that the card is at or pretty close to the announced price; I was half-expecting it to jump to $350, especially on Newegg.

No fair. NCIX Canada is still showing them as being at least a week away.

I'm really itching to get one. $309 (no shipping since it's just down the street from me) to trounce what I am currently running is just too good to resist. Almost want to buy 2 of the damn things.

newegg auto-notify works. They keep getting and selling out different brands so signing up for all of the models is the easiest way to get one.

Mwave has had different models in and out of stock as well, I ordered my 4870 from them on Friday and it's supposed to arrive today (woohoo!). Now I just need my new motherboard, E8400 and RAM to arrive and I'll be set.

Mwave if full of sh$%. I ordered one from them yesterday that was listed as In Stock, and they said they had an issue 'verifying my cc information' so I had to call them. I had requested overnight shipping at extra cost, so I asked the CS rep how long the verification process would take because I wanted them to ship the card ASAP. She responded that the cards were on back order, and she couldn't give me an ETA. She was nice enough, and canceled my order for me, but I checked while I was on the phone with her and after, and mwave still had the same card listed as In Stock.

This is the one I'm talking about:

http://www.mwave.com/mwave/vie....hmx?scriteria=AA73528

still listed as in stock.

I got a notification from Newegg yesterday evening about the Sapphire 4870 coming back in stock. I ordered it around 7PM PST, and they have the card listed as shipped already. I'll gladly give the egg an extra Hamilton for their no hassle/no BS service.

I bet NV is gonna recall all 260's from the shelves, mod it and re brand it as 260+ that beats 4870 by a tiny margin. You don't need a PhD to understand their business strategy.

The CC validation could happen at newegg too, these companies are rightly paranoid about CC fraud.

I wonder if that is a bad listing in their database, since there's no picture and other parts companies aren't selling "ATI" brand cards any more.

What's strange is that no sites list the Asus 4870. I wonder if they are perhaps building a custom cooling solution, therefore delaying it.

Would a 500 psu be big enough for this? I doubt it'd be worth it for me. My 4850 seems to be held back by the phenom 9500 :'(

A 500W should be plenty for a single 4870 depending on what else is in your system, but most likely that is more than enough.

Depends on the PSU. The HX520 (520W, not surprisingly...) I'm using was tested and certified by AMD to run a 4870. If it's a craptastic quality PSU, then who knows.

I don't have an issue with them verifying cc info. I guess I'm a little annoyed b/c they had to do it the last time I ordered from them too, which delayed my overnight shipping. My post was more about the inaccuracy of the 4870 listed as In Stock when it's not.
