you can still buy it at that price & just wait until next truck comes in . see if you can stack the 10% coupon on there to make it ~$370

It's still cheaper to buy this from e-bay for around $530 and us the MS Live cashback to get 30% back. You would get $160 back to make this a $370 video card.

At BB if you bought it at $412.49, used a 10% off coupon to make it $370 and then payed let's say 7% sales tax, it would be $396.

If you don't mind no warranty service Ebay is a great option. I would prefer to have a warranty on a $400 videocard....

It doesn't let you use the normal stock check since it's tagged as shipped only, but by doing a manual search all the stores around me show in stock (even gives an add to cart button but it ships to no pick up at check out. )

Gonna stop by the store on the way home (looks like they're getting ready for sales season as I check their hours and they are already open till 7 on sunday) and see if I can get the sale price and coupon. I was really waiting on sub $300 280gtx, but this would be rather hot for my 24" monitor.

I did mine through Ebay and got a 1 year warranty from Mwave, since I bought it from their Ebay store.

$384 shipped + $20 mail in rebate =$364 for a 4870x2 + 1 year warranty

not bad

So I am getting charged tax for an online purchase. Is this a best buy thing? I've never been charged tax from newegg before...

it's a state thing. if there is a best buy store in your state you'll get charged state tax for online purchases. newegg doesn't charge me state tax either, but best buy and tiger direct (compusa) charge me state tax.

I just wish pc gaming wasn't in such disarray, then I'd have excuse to upgrade my amd 64 (754 socket no less) 2800+, 1gb ram, 7800gs agp, 40gb hd...

The problem isn't PC gaming, it is gaming in general. Consoles don't have any good games either. Relatively speaking, of course... I owned a PS3 but no game is worth the money so I loaned it out to my uncle, permanently...

There are some decent games out there, but really good gripping games? Not in my opinion. But part of that has to do with the fact that I am now older.

This is killer deal and I am seriously considering the purchase of it. However, I do have one question. Can one of the two GPU's be disabled? It would be more for legacy gaming in addition to games that have problems with X-Fire.

Well my 360 has a lot of good games, actually. I've been kept quite busy with it, was pleasantly surprised... However, I want to get back into PC gaming. Hopefully Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 can revitalize things. The way hardware has been dropping in price, I'm not sure if I want to upgrade now for the WoW expansion and Warhammer Online; or to wait.

Actually, I pretty much keep my system updated because it is a hobby... I game about 2 hours a month... I guess it is sort of like a hot rod in many ways... I find myself wanting this 4870X2, but knowing that it is probably a bad purchase, not because the card is bad or something is better, but because even at $450 and the addition power costs will not be worth it to run 8X MSAA for 2 hours a month, 24 hours a year!

Still... I want to buy it.

Yes, rather easily .. just disable it in device manager AND Cat AI in CCC

however, it then is slower than a single 4870/512.

i wouldn't disable anything .. it will automatically just use one core if it does not scale

Oh dear, now I'm getting cold feet. I had set myself against buying an X2 because it uses so much more power and cost so much more money and would required me to overclock to use it fully (and I don't usually overclock anything). But then I saw this and went ahead and ordered one. Since its on backorder, does anyone know if I cancelled it now would I get the full amount back? My receipt says:

$412.49 - Price
$5.99 - Shipping
$24.06 - Tax
$442.54 - Final

It's because of where you live.

If they have a cancel option for your order, then yes you'd get the full final price back.

Once they ship it, you can return it for the price+tax but will lose the shipping expense and might have to pay a restocking fee.
