4870 x2 or 4870

my setup will be e8600 asus p5q pro monitor will be 22inch. soo should i get the x2 or just 4870? will there be any bottle necking going on with these gpu??? heard that x2 really wont kick in unless your playing on a 27inch. thanks for answers.

I am assuming a resolution of 1680x1050? I would check out the reviews that have something in that resolution. For me I ended up going with a 4850.

But my goals may be different than yours. I needed something for about 12-16 months.

Wanna play Crysis on very high? you need Vista 64-bit, 4 GB of RAM, and a 4870 X2 with a dual core at 3.6 GHz or higher and a resolution of 1280x1024 with 4xAA.

funny thing is that im getting 64 bit 8 gig of ram with a 4870 x2 with a e8600 3.33 which i can easily oc to 3.6 and my res is 1680 x 1060 now what !?!? lol

you should be able to play Crysis on Very high

with my single X2 and rig in sig, i get 34.25 FPS average, 22 low and 55 high - at 16x10

Play Warhead .. you will get better framerates generally over 30 FPS .. at 16x10

And the sad thing is you still won't be able to turn on Anti-Aliasing and maintain playable framerates. Maybe by the time Crysis 3 comes out, computers will have advanced enough that we can all play Crysis on Very High with AA.

X2 is the best performing single card in Crysis, but at 1680x1050 you will not get an entirely smooth experience with maxed settings, and AA is out of the question unless you want to tolerate some slow-downs and downright painful performance with 4xaa or higher.

It's a shame really, Crysis looks amazing, but when you throw in 4xAA at a high res, it makes a huge difference imo, really makes the game look incredible, but it's just not playable.

4870 X2 is overkill for a 22 inch, go with 4870 1GB.

If you plan to keep your setup for more than a year, might as well go balls out and get the 4870x2.

All this talk about AA...at that high of a resolution, you really don't need it. You can either take a lower resolution with AA, or a higher resolution without it. I'd take the latter.
