That is not true. Quit re-broadcasting lies like this in the forum. I bought a Polaroid burner when they went on sale in OM and RMA'd it due to vibration problems at speeds above 40x. Is that support or not?

I looked it up, and it looks like Polaroid entered Chapter 11 in Oct. 2001. I'm not sure when they (must have) exited it, since they're still around. I'm sure that they no longer sell their optical drives, and I must admit, I made an assumption that they no longer supported them as well. I am pleased to hear that they are still offering RMA services. As for the quality problems with them, I will let owners of Polaroid burners speak for themselves, since I have never owned one, and was simply regurgitating what I percieved as the general opinion on them based on other's reports.

It was certainly not intentional to spread misinformation, and I don't believe that it was therefore a lie. Simply correcting the facts is enough, thank you.

Polaroid "was" selling BTC (Behavior Tech, Top-G, Top-Glory, etc) relabeled drives... they are mostly good for filling up external drive bays when you've lost your blank plates, since they aren't particularly good at reading, burning, or longevity

Heh.. all I can say is 'You get what you pay for' on this one. Those cheap burners with outrageous specs are total cee-arrr-eeyyyy-peeee they SUCK ! I got the Cendyne 40x12x48 at Staples for $50, with a $20 rebate. I DID get the rebate, thanks Cendyne! The drive sucks really bad, and died yesterday, conveniently right after the warranty period.
I will pay an outrageous amount to buy the Plextor Premium drive, I've had Plextor in the past and they never failed on me. Screw all this cheap crap, it's not worth it in my humble opinion.

I found 4 32x Polaroid drives at my local OMax.
They want $90 each for them on clearance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I told the manager I would let him pay me $20 for cleaning them off his shelf.

These drives are sitting right next to some 52x burner they have selling right now for $20 after MIR

i picked up an I/o Magic 24x external from my OM. The box says 24x, the drive actually says 32x and it is recognized in WinXP as 40x

The case on this thing is sweet. The enclosure is probably worth $40 anyway

I feel you man, I got a cendyne 48x12x48 for $30 no rebate, and also 40x for $20 no rebate 2 month ago, both die on me. I regret selling my lite-on 40x for $30 because it never fail me for over 6 month, now it's gone.

I advise TO call, Don't not waste your time going down there and theres no availability.
I called they knew exactly what I was talking about so they told me what they had left.

I also saw the same sku numbers on the flyer I have.

If you want screwed make sure you call in advance. The employees snatch up any good deals for themselves. Heck, I've heard them talking about stuff like that with each other.
