4g LTE for gaming?

I just got a 4g Verizon phone (RAZR) and I'm amazed how fast the connection is. How well does that connection work for gaming if I tether it to my computer? (using PDANET)

I just tested it and on my phone it is a 10mbps download and a like 8mpbs download once tethered, upload is a paltry .10 but that's not terribly important unless I'm hosting, etc.

My home internet is 2.88 mpbs download and 1mpbs upload. So its a huge difference...

Not all connections are equal, anyone have any issues with using STEAM or doing internet multiplayer with these tethered connections?

I haven't run any tests on the latest LTE gear, but I think you'll find the latency on LTE to be higher than you're used to with a hardwired broadband connection. It would also be quite a bit more volatile. Trying pinging from your home line and then from the tethered phone and check the latency over a few minutes.

sometimes you might lose 4G and then youll lose internet connection.
home wifi is more reliable, but if im downloading a large file, i tether, but when i game i use wifi

It depends on the type of games you'll play. Fast paced games like first person shooters or any type of action game would suck because of the latency. MMORPG's not as much.

I didn't have much issue with latency on Verizons 3G, haven't had a chance to try 4g yet (still rocking a Fascinate).

Played UT2004 and Joint Operations without any issue on 3g on the gaming laptop when on the road.

latency for me is around 90-100ms, which is not too bad; not perfect but tolerable. Any DSL with interleaving has similar latency. You might get dropped connection for a second or two.

My friend would tether to the Xbox to play games sometimes. Didn't have 4G at the time, but 3G worked...kinda. Ping was terrible and would sometimes drop connection. Didn't make a very good host lol

Lte latency for me on speed test is like 40ms. Haven't tried and actual game but if its under 100 I think it would be playable

My job gave me a razr and lte sucks balls in nyc. Im lucky to even maintain a connectio. My tmo sgs2 is at least twice as fast. The ping time on my lte ranges from 30ms to well over 1000ms.

I am considering on doing the same if it's possible to use LTE for moderate gaming. Anyone else have experiences with this?
