So I'm debating between getting some thing like this (SD Card) and getting a Microdrive for storage for my Dell x50v.
SD Card Pros:
- quiet
- damn near unbreakable
- write protection

SD Card Cons:
- More $$ than Microdrive
- Supposedly can only be rewritten a certain amount of times before it fails (~1 million, but who really re-writes that many times!?!)

Anybody have anything to add to this? To me it seems like the SD card is the way to go. Besides, my camera also takes SD...

Buy at your own risk. It may not work in your device due to 16/32 FAT compatability...

Youa re never going to run into the write limitation. Most use a revolving write anyway, so you end up with 10's of years of normal use before running into that limit. By that time, the 4TB versions will be out.

Umm I don't think the 1 million rewrites is a Con...it's not like the Microdrive would last 1 million full rewrites either...if anything the flash drive is probably more durable.

So it's really just a question of price.

Oh and these use a lot less electricity than Microdrives...so it's something you should consider, since the Microdrives will put a bigger hit on your Axim's battery life.

I want to buy this 4GB card to use in my Dell Axim X30. Dell says the max it can support is 1GB. However, some people over at AximSite.com say that particular card works right out of the box.

Anyone here using this or any other 4GB (or 2GB) card with their X30?

The prices on these things have dropped a crazy amount in the past several months. I remember looking at 4GB SD cards last summer and being dismayed that they were $600 at the time. Now I can actually afford to buy a camera that uses SD memory!

I ordered one of 4GB cards today.
When I get it, I will post if it works with my Axim X30.

Microdrive will eat the already inadequate battery in the Axim X50V.

Got it today. Right out of the box I inserted it into my X30 and bam, 3.8GB of storage! I copied a bunch of mp3 and video clips over and they play great. No formatting necessary. WOOT!

Got mine.. looks like it wont run in my Dell i6000D notebook.. its probably the chip that dell uses, non of my sd card does not work. Kingston 2GB & PNY 1GB.. just wasn't as fast as I expected, either that or I hit the limitation of the sandisk reader... quite possible..

Using the Sandisk ImageMate 8-in-1 USB2.0. Notebook is Latitude D800 w/ usb 2.0 ports
