do these have 4GB microdrives in them? If so, this might be be a VERY hot deal...especially for those with CF digital cameras and batteries to spare....

It's not a solid state micro drive.. but a mini hard drive. Already stated in a few other threads. Can't be used in anything else.

Well, for $125 you can get a 40gb HD.... inside a USB 2.0 enclosure.... basically the same thing as what's offered in this thread.

True, it's bigger....but it's also 10x the capacity and MUCH faster in throughput.

you can also make up your own......buy a 20gb-60gb drive and put it into an external enclosure.....total cost....about $100-150

My $.02

Edit: Added product link to newegg.......LINK
Price now $104 after $20 rebate......

That is the point to this drive. It's small. Hardly larger than a Zippo lighter that you can throw in your shirt pocket. That's what I do with mine. Throughput is slower than with the big USB 2.0 drives but right up there with USB flash drives. Mine runs at 7-8 Mb/sec while my larger 60 gb USB 2 drive is around 20-23 MB/sec.

Your two cents are worthless...it is NOT the same thing. Your device is both significantly larger (won't fit in a shirt pocket) and requires a power supply.

For the price, this device is highly unnecessary. Nobody needs a USB drive that can hold 4GB.

That's your opinion. It's unnecessary for you. Don't claim nobody needs a 4 GB drive. You don't have any idea what's good for me. No more lugging around disks when I install programs, updates, DAT files, video card udates on the many computers I service. The six Nero updates alone are well over 100 MB.

You don't need all 6 Nero updates. The most recent update contains everything. You should know that if you're servicing computers.

"...Highly unnecessary..."
"You don't need..."

The most recent update for Nero comes in 6 "packages", or files.

For the price? Are you kidding, this thing is much cheaper than buying four seperate 1GB flash drives (~$50 a piece). And don't say "nobody" will need it. Maybe you don't, but that's you. I can definitely see uses for 4GB.

Dude....get a life.....and try to be less hateful....I feel sorry for you.

I already stated its larger, but you get 10x the storage and faster transfer rates.

BTW, laptop USB drives do not require a power source unless they're being run through a non-powered hub(assuming other devices are drawing power from the hub)....so in other words, just plug and go.

Anyhow, my point was to show for the money, there are other alternatives out there that are similar in size.....not the same size, but similar.

Not if you're just updating the main Nero program.

Gee, no kidding. I am talking about all the Nero updates for all 6 Nero programs. I don't need you to give me advice on updating. That's not what t his original thread was about anyway.
