TV has an "UHD Alliance", and yes, they set 1000 nits as the HDR standard. Monitors don't have this association.

Thank you! Very informative! But made me angry, since it seems if i wanted to buy a monitor with proper HDR support, i might as well wait another year, cause the new ones just introduced seem not to fully meet the standards and only god knows when we see one to do so. I am going to wait for the reviews of the BenQ SW320 and LG 32UD99, but if they dont turn out to be awesome and useful in this regard, then i will probably just buy one of the older, now cheaper 4K displays like BenQ BL3201 and be done with it.

I've been using a Dell 3007WFP-HC since 2008, I haven't been tempted to upgrade until I saw these monitors. If they make a 32" version I will be buying one.

The only way to get a real HDR monitor today is to use a real HDR TV as a monitor

Q3 according to Asus press release.

I also really want to sink some money into my monitors but with this on the horizon I don't think its worth spending $800+ into any of the current high end monitors.

Worrying news for those of us wanting 4K 32-inch (31.5 actual) high refresh rate panels.

AUO are also now working on a 32" HDR IPS-type AHVA panel, with similar features. A 3840 x 2160 ultra HD resolution, 384-zone backlight, HDR support, DCIP3>=95% and 400 - 800 cd/m2 brightness. This 32" version is expected to go in to production in Q4 2017 so is some way behind the 27" model. No confirmation on refresh rate of the 32" panel, although we don't believe it will be high refresh rate sadly as it is not listed in their gaming panels, whereas the 27" version is.

We see similar things with 32-inch QHD panels now. They got 144Hz way later than 27-inch, and even now many are still 60hz or 75hz.

FALD IPS will be really interesting to see how it turns out, cost and performance wise. You could remove the main drawback of IPS which is IPS glow, but the array will add cost bringing it close to or above the cost of a similar VA panel. Looking forward to it.
