Its worth noting that TN is more than capable of accurate colour reproduction, that is not an inherent fault in the TN design. The reason the colour quality was bad was the use of 6 bit panels with FRC that struggle to reproduce the colour well. We are now seeing 8 bit panels and they are competing with the IPS panels that are also 8 bit. Colour shift is the only real drawback for the TN panel and that is due to the design.

I'm not so sure about that. I have a Swift sitting right next to a VP2770-LED. The Vp2770 is obviously better looking than the Swift. No comparison with the image quality.

I'm really interested in grabbing a 4K monitor but I'll probably wait for the price of them to drop further. I'm not that picky, a 4K 60HZ monitor like the popular Samsung one would be fine for me, but I'm waiting until they're more like $300, which could be awhile

I have the Samsung
28" 60 Hz (~$600)

No I don't love it. Reason I normally play at 2560/1440 with sig rig so 4770k at 4.7 and two 295x2 in crossfire and Arma 3 is unplayable at 4k.
Technically your system should eat it like a piece of cake, some components must be broken...

Technically it doesn't. I am used to playing on the highest settings so yes if I dial everything back a bit it's fine BUT I don't want to compromise settings. When I have 4000m draw distance all settings on ultra and swivel on the spot it feels choppy with the 4K screen. I'm not talking about it being 'OK' I'm wanting to turn 360 and see the horizon pan smoothly and it doesn't. I'm sure you or many people would find it OK but it's a question of what one is used to.

To be fair 'unplayable' is a grossly unfair statement I mean unplayable at settings I previously enjoyed.

Well with 4K you are jumping many more pixels with each frame. I'm not sure about the theoretical part of this but I would guess that the same frame rate could appear less smooth on a significantly higher resolution.

Anyone have firsthand experience with the Acer one with G-Sync? I'm considering it as an alternative to the Swift, which I've had a problem with vertical striping that I'm not sure if is just a defect, or is more fundamental to the panel. If it is fundamental, I'll be looking for another source of G-Sync, and while I liked the idea of 1440 144Hz, 4k is also rather compelling.

I don't think it's reached retail yet.

Hoping the Eizo EV3237 or Benq BL3201PT are good.

Problem with LG 31MU97 is 17:9 aspect with one inch black bars while gaming which is a real pain in games fixed at 16:9 (any competitive game really...). IMO side bars are more intrusive than bars on top and bottom. You can't use widescreen mod for online games anyway and will get banned, and even the flawless widescreen mod only modifies in-game play, menus and cinematics for stuff is still locked at 16:9. So for stuff like Dragon Age or Witcher, conversations will be annoying...

The Samsung UD 970 is good but their defect rate is really high, I've gone through 4 of their panels and they all have 3-4 dead pixels each, minimum, one of them had over a dozen dead pixels. Real shame they are charging so much ($2,000) for panels with such high defect rates.

What, no Seiki post yet? The 39" "TV" is IMHO the perfect size for a 4K desk monitor.

Yeah it's 30Hz but also $300. Drops to 1080P 120Hz for gaming just fine.
