I updated my 2003 S2000 stock wheels (AP1)
Fronts - 205/50/16
Rears - 225/50/16
with 2006 S2000 (AP2v2) stock wheels
Fronts 215/45/17
Rears 245/45/17
Reasons why I did it are obvious, more tire contact patch, better braking/cornering etc.
But the main reason why I did it is that 16" tires don't have as many sport rubber choices anymore. The ones that still make them are pricey and more money than 17's. I was able to score these off another S2000 owner for $450 with the rubber on it.
The 16's have Cooper RS3R's some all season tire that doesn't deserve to be on the car.
The 17's have Yokohama S.Drives and while the tire provides alot more grip, and sorta drone at highway speeds, they do have alot more confidence inspiring grip than my all seasons. I'm looking to replace them when they wear out with Pilot Super Sports.
