5.1 speaker setup......center channel wont work!!

Logitech x530 speakers, I just got them home and hooked them up and the center channel dont work. I have them plugged into the 6-channel inputs on my Asus k8v mb onboard sound and have windows xp set up for 5.1 sound.

I am stumped...

I switched the cables and it works .....so it is not the speaker. It must be the output jack or the setup in windows or the "soundmax" config with the onboard sound. There are 3 jacks for speakers: 1 for front, 1 for rear, and 1 for center/sub. I unplugged and plugged back in. Sound settings in control panel is set to 5.1 surround.

I just dont know. I dont want to buy a separate sound card if I dont have to.

Do you hear anything from the sub? It may be that the center and sub channels are swapped. I've heard of this happening with some motherboards. I think there is some way that you can software configure SoundMax to swap the center/sub channels.

Did you run a 5.1 sound test that tests each individual speaker, or are you just listening to music?
There will be no sound that comes out of your center speaker for music, or even your surround. But WMP will clone the sound from the front two channels to the rear, which probably explains why you're getting sound from your surrounds.

I fixed it!! I had to download a new driver for my onboard sound and then center channel works fine. I also had to play with the driver program's equalizer to get the bass turned down. Now everything is awesome!
