5.1 with audigy

How an I susposed to get 5.1 dolby digital on my audigy under windows XP. I have a cheap panasonic surround system SA-ht290 A/V control system. I'm using the opical out on the audigy drive but I'm only getting Two chanels. When I test It I get left right but no SL SR or center.

Yep I've got the same problem. I've got it hooked up to a Sony Digital Reciver and I can never get Dolby Digital output.

omni with those speakers i dont think youll get 5.1

freak check windows advanced sound options and select the correct speaker config and do the same in audiohq

are you playing dvd?
if you're not playing dvd, how could you get DD 5.1 sound?

i tried the dd 5.1 demo stuff on the installation cdrom

keep in mind - spdif only outputs digital stereo or ac-3 signal.
so your receiver will get either digital stereo or ac-3 signal from the soundcard's spdif-out.

does the demo program have setting to choose 6 ch analog output or thru spdif?

You'll only get 5.1 sound from dvds really. Your reciever should have a sound mode option where you can set it to surround. It is not true 5.1, but it utilizes all the speakers for things like games and music.
