5.25" Drive Bay Shield: Bother replacing?

I have to go clean out my computer within the next few weeks -- haven't done it in over a year and I want to throw an extra fan in -- and just came up with a great idea to take out my DVD drive.

The drive gets used once a year now? And it's an IDE cable model that clutters the inside. I'll probably get a $30 external drive for all future use.

Seeing as how I'm not putting a drive back in, that leaves the drive bay unshielded -- it's an Antec P183 and I still have the dust cover so it will look fine from outside. I also have the metal EMF (?) plate and could take it back on in five minutes.

Would you bother replacing the EMF metal bay shield for an unused slot?

No. But I have to supporting logic. I just wouldn't.

Sounds like it'd be safe to leave it open... Logic I've found online is that cases with windows have a similar issue multiplied by a couple times. Also heard that it's more for keeping stuff in to limit radio interference to other sources than to protect stuff inside.

My current idea is to just unplug the power and IDE cable, leave the drive installed. Hurray for a modular PSU and matching bezel colors.
