I'm personally a bit skeptical as how good the laser mice actually are. I've heard and read a lot of personal comments on Logitech's new G5 mouse and they have complained about skipping issues on specialized gaming pads yet have no quirks with their previous 510/518 counterparts.

Anyone a G5 owner?

I do not own a G5, but i do own an MX 1000, which is a logitech wireless laser mouse. I happen to love it. It seems to work fine in games also, with no lag that i can notice. If you dont use it for a while it takes (less than)a second for it to start up again and recognize you moved, but it you dont move it for about 5 minutes it is lagless.

Yeah I just purchased the mx1000 as well and I love it, now more half turns in counterstrike like with a opticle mouse when you move it to fast it just kicks back. This laser mouse doesnt do that and its so smooth no lag at all. I like it a lot better then my m x518

Thanks joker. Just ordered one. This is selling for $65 at NE. Hope they actually ship. Gotta bad feeling this is a price error though.

I have a G5 and I use it with a HardOCP ratpad. I mosty play battlefield and have no tracking or skipping issues. Also, the on-the-fly button customization is really useful as well as the switching DPI on the fly.

Good to know. I just traded a friend my MX510 for his MX518. He didn't like the fact that the 518 is a tish fatter than the 510, or so we think so. It even looks fatter. Anyways, the on-the-fly DPI switching is neat. Though, I am a bit use to just a single DPI and then sticking with it for sniping...will take some getting use to, but I hope I can find it to be a useful function.

I tried this mouse out and I didnt like it that much. The driver is not as good as the logitech ones. Logitech lets you set speed and acceleration, this mouse only lets you set speed, so you are stuck at the same acceleration no matter what you do. In games there was no way to set it so that the speed was comfortable, and finally it is fatter than the mouse I am used to. Felt awkward compared to my logitech. My advice, spend 30 more bux for a G5.

It is a good find though, if you dont mind it being fat and dont have the 50 bux for a G5.

I have a mx1000 laser mouse as well and I love it!
Battery lasts quite a while before needing recharge. And uber accurate.

If you get an mx1000 where the cursor jumps around when its in USB, call up logitech, they will send you a replacement base unit. I had to do that (its even mentioned how and the number to call for this issue on thier support part of logitech website). No hassle.
