Wow.
The driver's thread on M5Board.com
M5froth I completley understand where you are coming from assuming that I am irresponsible..that is definetly understandable. I do sometimes make bad decisions but I am young and I do drive safe and I will not endanger the lives of others..and I hope you are not under the impression that I am the one to brag, I have never been that way and never will. Plus I will have pictures up asap with me in the pictures. I have no reason to lie buddy.

wow, indeed :Q
what fool gives a child such a machine in the first place? :|
As strange as it sounds, the M5 is actually a safer car than something about as fast like a Mustang or F-Body. Though the M5 is more costly (obviously), its safety tends to be pretty good. Yes, it's fast, but not appreciably faster than many of the vehicles in the hands of highschool kids today.
The new M5's are going to be considerably faster than a Mustang or F-Body... The current M5 is clawing into super car territory.
The new M5's have been doing mid to high 4 sec 0-60 and high 12 second quarter mile, bone stock. A run of the mill Mustang GT (not even GT500) does the 0-60 in low 5 seconds, and mid 13 second quarter mile, also stock. SBC based F-bodies are a bit faster than that, stock.
All in all, yes there's a speed & quickness difference (at least stock to stock), but the difference isn't huge. Heck, there are plenty of highschoolers running around in EVOs and STIs, which are right there in speed.
Valuation aside, I'd say a kid is safer in an M5 than a Mustang, F-Body, EVO, STI, or many other choices.
