$5 off $20 - Upto 25% off accessories and games at Best Buy with Gamers Gift Card

Hi All,
Didn't see this posted, but thought it would be warm for some of us who got new systems for Christmas. I also got a hundred dollar gift card.

Best Buy has this thing called a gamers gift card, where whenever you spend $19.99 or more, you get to use a $5.00 off coupon. The gamers cards come in jewel cases and are all over the gaming department. I bought 5 $20 cards with my $100 card. Worked great for a new xbox controlloer and HDTV cables for my xbox. These things never go on sale it seems like. Can be applied to any games or gaming accessories.

So the HDTV cables were $19.99 - $5.00 = $14.99 (25% off)
There's also all those platnum hits and other accessories in the $20 range, but also takes $5 off anything game related.

So if you are planning on spending $20 for some cables, buy the gift card for $15, go back in the store, use it and only pay the tax. (after using the your card)

This might be hotter if you can combine with price matching.
It might work with a console, whats $5 off $180 to them. I think it hurts them most on low margin stuff at the $20 price point.

You've got it backwards. I know it doesn't make much sense, but the margin on consoles is really low while the margin on $20 accessories is often very high.

Good point, I was just thinking about the percentages, but I forgot about the HUGE mark up on software and accessories.

Combining the GGC with a PM is very much YMMV. Everytime I've tried it, I've been shot down with the sad excuse that "it can't be combined with any other offers".

My reply is always along the lines of "how can it be YOUR offer when I had to ask you to match somebody else's price"?
