So far it hasn't fried anything under a full load in Oblivion, and I'm running an AM2 3500+, single X1800XT, 2 GB PC6400, 4 HD's (3 IDE, 1 SATA), and a bunch of other PCI/USB peripherals.

until the recent advent of active PFC, most PSU's sold in the US had max efficiency in the 70%'s; even my 1 year-old Antec Neo 480 can't reach 80%. Only high-end units, such as Antec HE's or Thermaltake Toughpowerswith, are equipped with active PFC. So it's unrealistic to expect that in a $10 psu.

If you have the NeoPower480, then you have active PFC. It is clearly mentioned on both the box and Antec's website as a major feature of the PS.

You don't understand. The X-Finity PSUs are made with the same quality as some Forton PSUs, some Sparkle PSUs, most Topower PSUs, and above all, the X-Finity is more reliable then the mainstream Antec PSUs. Just because Ultra offers their PSUs with some large rebates doesn't mean that they suck. Anyways, most of the people on this forum could run their PCs fine with PSU, except for those that run 3+ disk RAID arrays, Quad-Sli or 7800GTXs in SLi and water cooling with an Intel P4 or A64 CPU.

Well here's a plan...just don't send in the rebate. That way you have yourself a $55.00 PSU.

Or even better, it's $59.99 now so he can have a $60.00 PSU!

Oh, this is one heavy PSU. I received the black one today (ordered yesterday) and it's very heavy!!!

I have this X-Finity 500W currently on my system. The voltage goes up and down even at idle (using asus own software to see the voltage) But my Antec tp430 was straight line all the time. Besides that haven't have any problem.

I have Antec true power 430W and I just ordered this one, so which one is better?

Keep this as backup...

you're right, but the efficiency is still only 70% at full load.

Not sure, but the best bet is to make copies of EVERYTHING. I'm going to do mine online so that I can be approved within hours and so they can track it easier.

Well, I got cheated out of my rebate. I received an email Aug 23 stating I would receive my rebate in 8-10 weeks. That time period expired 10/31. I still haven't received the rebate.

WARNING!!! Avoid onrebate.com and outpost.com

Did you try calling them first? From the rebate tracking thread I found the following:

Call Onrebate first and if you don't get results, then call Fry's.

Onrebate
support@help.onrebate.com or call our customer service number 1-888-222-9300.

Fry's
408-487-4500 (Fry's corporate #, ask for 'Leoni')
