They were $46.99 at one point, but still this is a good deal...

Mine does 1.83ghz w/ default voltage @ 166/166 on a K7S5A PRO... the memory is PC2100 DDR Kingston Value RAM. It will reach 166 ok but not with most aggressive settings... could be the mobo, I'm not sure...

Anyway, if I could change multiplier settings with this mobo I'm sure I could reach close to 2ghz... I'm using a GC68 with stock fan by the way... temp hovers around 35-39.

You don't know what stepping you'll get with the Retail box. Not many people have bought it.

FYI-- I bought a retail 1.7 last week when the retail was only $8 more than OEM and I got an 0302 just like everyone else has been getting.

With the default voltage and stock fan it easily runs over 2 GHz.

So it looks like the retail CPUS are probably the same stepping as the OEM.

Well I have a KK266 also and from the research I have done, putting an athlon xp in this board would be flaky at best. Anybody else have a different experience?

I ordered the OEM at $46 and got an A an old one at that...it is a crapshoot unless they specifically advertise the stepping/version. Still is OC'ed by almost 300 Mhz with junk ram that wont go past 142 Mhz

I've run several different Palomino-core XP's on my KK266plus mobo, no problems at all.

However, it appears that the Thoroughbred core XP's do NOT work on the kk266 series mobos. I haven't tried one, but I've seen several posts from those who have, and those who've gone over the edge trying to get a BIOS upgrade out of IWill that will support the T'Bred with no luck.

Back down to $50 for the old CPU. T-Bred is still $52. Retail up to $68!

Newegg is really goofy with the way they update their prices.

On Thurs 2/21 around 1 pm pacific time I ordered an OEM 1700+ Thoroughbred from NewEgg for $52. I went and picked it up at the FedEx office on Fri 2/22 because it was at the station but not scheduled to be delivered until Monday (Saturday delivery not paid for). For those who are thinking of ordering, here's what I received:
Thoroughbred A
AXDA1700DLT3C
RIUGA 0249UPMW (made 49th week of 2002)

From what I've read, it's not the greatest for overclocking. Stock 1700+ speed is 11.0 x 133.33. The best it would run at stock voltage (1.50v) was 12.0 x 133.33 (1900+ speeds). Bumping up the voltage to 1.575 made it stable at 2000+ speeds (12.5 x 133.33). I'm still working with it.

might want to up the voltage a bit on that chip if you want to overclock. My tbredb stock voltage is 1.6v, and I have it at 1.75v right now to overclock it to 2075mhz.

My 1700+ tbred-b JIUHB 0302 is at 11X195 = 2145MHz. But now I'm using a 2600+ I won from AMD, so far running 12X192. I'm going to try more later.

I just got mine last week.

Its a Tbreb B 0307. I OCed it to 2.0Ghz (max on my mobo) and it ran but the Internet stopped working. I think my memory couldn't handle the speeds since it is very very old PC2100. I throttled it back down to 1.9Ghz and it's working perfectly. Voltage was 1.6 and CPU temps range from 38-42c.
