Correct, currently its targeted at Matlab, Mathematica, and other such similar programs like autocad,however a full list of support hasn't been released.

I wonder how long it would take a geek to write up the backbone in linux to treat it like a true co-processor...

yeah i've read about this some time ago... 96 cores per CPU clocked at 200mhz, then 2 CPU's per card. my guess why amd/intel dont do this is because they still have plenty to milk dual/quad/octo core(hexa after that?) and the software still needs to run decently, not to mention support it.

386's with math co-processors, revive it! This is just a nice step to offloading grunt work to a cost effective processor that doesn't spew heat.

Honestly this little PCB is more targeted for large server farms to boost productivity, but has other fun implications.

Its not released yet,so as of now theres no clue for the software support or cost, but I'm sure it won't be cheap.
