Anyone (males) ever go to a yuppie hair cut salon where they charge $50+? I've always had my haircut either by my mom or for some place that's $10-$12. Is there an actual difference there?

I go to the hair salon school, costs me $12 for a decent haircut. Sometimes the person is new, though, and does a really poor job on my hair... I just suck it up and go sooner next time. which reminds me, I should probably get a haircut soon.

I've never paid more than $12 for a haircut, but I've also never had a haircut that I like.

Sure I'll bite

$25-30. I will say it's worth it if it doesn't bother you that you're spending an extra 20 bucks every month or so on your hair...

I find that she does the job better, I can actually ask her for advice, etc.

re the above

She's never fucked up and I like my hair.

I paid $12.99 for a pro-cut today. If I ever paid $50+ for a haircut, you will know I have been elected president of the United States of America.

I get mines done for $15-ish now. Going to have to go this weekend. Won't be paying anything in a few years though. Think I'm approaching the point of no return with my balding issue; still thick enough on the top, but hairlines receding. Yay...

The highest I've paid is like $21. Even though I tell them what I want... it never turns out how I like for me. :/ (A lot of haircuts just don't work on me even though they seem like they might)

I'd pay $40 if I went to a hair stylist/dresser/whatever that would give me a haircut that actually looked awesome without me having to figure it out. So far I have 0 haircuts that anyone has liked at all. :| Sad times.

I haven't gotten my hair cut in about 10 years. When I did, I always went to cheap places. I've got better things to spend my money on than something frivolous like hair.

Because you're bald?

Nah, long hair. It has been falling out as I've gotten older though. It's a lot thinner than it used to be. If it ever comes to me having short hair, I'll shave my head.

Went to one in Phoenix. I had a date that night almost right after work. Wasn't thinking right, and rationalized myself to one of those places. What a mistake. They really didn't style my hair, they just buzzed it. I wouldn't mind a buzz so much, but for $60 in year 2000 money, I was annoyed.

between 20-30 including tip. Never a bad haircut, I like the results and usually a pretty woman cutting your hair or there's definite eye candy around.

I pay $20 w/tip ($15 haircut). I like the place, I always go to the same woman and she washes my hair after for free. No immediate home-to-shower FTW.

When I lived in G'ville FL I went to a place right by UF's campus..7 bucks with tip. Those were the days.

Most expensive haircut I have gotten (as a regular) was 35$ at some hair salon on Newbury St. in Boston (John Pierre).

Standard haircut I've gotten (as a regular) was 20$ at Floyd's Barbershop in Boston (Backbay)

Least expensive haircut I have gotten (as a regular) (in the past 5 years) was 12$ from a barber shop run by Vietnamese folks (down in Lorton, VA).

35$: Hair cut was always good (blending in the lines), consistent.
20$: Hair cut was almost always good (blending etc.), consistent.
12$: Hair cut is decent, blend not as good, not as consistent, but passable due to price.

20$ at the place ive been going at for 20 years now. And thats about 8$ too much. 15min cutting my hair isnt that rough. They really overcharge unless its a high quality salon or some shit and youre female, then maybe its more?

Depends - if you need a specialized type of haircut and you like chatting it up with the stylist - then you'll want to go to a salon. Else - basic haircut from your local barbershop should suffice [I personally like the "walk in, point to what I want, shut the hell up and cut my hair" salon].

i used to bleach blond back in my college days. that was pricey. being a poor student i could only get a hair cut every 2 months at the $75+ they were charging, and bleached blond with short hair looks terrible that much later. my driver's license is the only evidence of that era.

since i've come to my senses i've only been to a real salon once since then, at a gf's insistence. the guy had an awesome ninja bandolier toolbelt wristband of haircutting equipment, but gave me exactly the same haircut i get at supercuts (and supercuts gets me a shampoo as well, useful for keeping the hair out of my collar).

When I got my first $35 haircut, I was skeptical, when you are sitting there, it doesn't really seem like they are doing anything different from the $10-15 places. But when she got finished, my hair looked better than it ever had at those places, definitely get what you pay for.

I get the $35 hair cut for special special occasions.
