I loaded up the first film, Carnival of Souls, '62, set in Lawrence, Kansas, and was prepared to snigger and guffaw at it over popcorn and beer. It turned out to be astoundingly good -- after a sorta awkward start, it succeeds in getting moody/creepy, and the lead actress pulls together a good performance -- and probably made for about 25k. The people selling the collection are getting about three hours on a side, and so at times you get some pixelation and some haloing in shadows, but that's nothing. I'm glad films like this are themselves being brought back from the dead, they really deserve it.
