$50 iBooks Hot hot hot

For anyone living near Richmond, VA.. one of the school districs is apparently offloading its old supply of iBook G3s for only $50. There is a one per person limit, and its cash or check only.

Specs are:
12" iBook G3
500Mhz
320Mb ram
10Gb HD

This is a one day shot, Aug 9th. So if you're in the area, or willing to drive there, I'd suggest you go early as there are only 1000 for sale and i'm sure these will make great re-sells on eBay..

Beware of this serial number range: UV117XXXXXX to UV342XXXXXX

There is a motherboard defect with this model that used to be covered under an Apple warranty extension program, however, AFAIK this program expired on March 18, 2005. You may be SOL without recourse if you jump on this and get an iBook with a defective motherboard.

These are going $200-$250 on ebay - no one is going to buy one and then ship it to you for $50 - they could just put it up on ebay.

Also - there is going to be a line around the building 2 days before this thing starts. Just so you dont get your hopes up the chances of getting one are pretty slim unless your time in line is worth less than $200 - for me...I'll sit at home in my nice AC.

I went to school in Henrico county. I was a guinea pig for their ibook thing.. they were crap then, and I can't imagine the poor condition they must be today. If you try to buy one just to sell on ebay, I doubt you'll get more than the $50 if you provide an honest description & pictures.
