Just so I understand either option, I will need to make a small bios change to overclock the ram to 1600?

Yes, but it is literally going to your ram settings and going into ram speed and selecting from 1066, 1333, and 1600 + others if it's an option. It's not technically going to "overclock the ram", it is more just a motherboard setting. You won't have to change voltages and test stability like you would overclocking a CPU or a graphics card since the ram is intended to run at that speed.

The Gtx 465 and the 5830 are now cheaper than the 460 on amazon. 460 still better option? Placing my order today.

Yes, the 460 is a better option. The GTX 465 and 5830 are both super-cut down versions of the higher-end chips and thus are loud and power-hungry. The GTX 460 is generally faster than both.

Alright then, my list is final then. Should I be concerned with the brand of the 460? I saw several brands a bit cheaper on amazon for the 1gb card at standard clock, however, prices have become the same this week it now appears after just checking.

Depends. On Newegg it appears there's a gigabyte with a nice cooling solution, and a Zotac with a displayport, and an Asus with a factory overclock all for 230$, as well as a spattering of others that are differentiated slightly. Which specific model are you looking at again?

I had been looking at the evga versions on amazon. If the Asus is overclocked and considered a good choice for $230, I am good with that.

Go with the ASUS, in particular this one. EVGA (for whatever dumbass reason) decided to go with a blower setup on their 1GB GTX 460's and it is way louder than it needs to be.

JW, what advantage does the Asus have over this OC gigabyte for the same price? I thought the Gigabyte's cooler was a nice design?

The Gigabyte is fine too, but I don't think that the dual fans really buy you much except for a little added noise. With the ASUS, the one fan is centered over the chip, but the dual fans on the Gigabyte are offset.

For some reason, Amazon links don't redirect I have noticed. Anyway.....parts ordered finally!

Final list (went over budget, I couldn't help it) ;D

AMD 1055T (6 cores? why not)
8gb of G.SKILL PC1600 (going 64bit Win7, wanted to take advantage)

Glad you approve. Was afraid you would have said "you fool, that won't work with that and that isn't the right part!, etc"

PC built, did the windows 7 performance test and rated a 7.4 across the board (except hard drive got a 5.9) I believe the highest score possible is 7.9. I am happy, very quiet as well.

I will get pictures when I get my wires tied up. It does look pretty slick, almost all parts are black except for the mean looking row of 4 sticks of ripjaws.

So, I am lazy and worthless and been enjoying my PC too much and I have not made pictures, sorry.

Anyway, my LCD died last night (transistors went out) while gaming so I am on the market for a 24in. Not sure what I want yet, do any of you have any suggestions?

My gut feeling is to go with a Dell U2410.

If you don't mind dropping the coin, the U2410 is excellent. I'm rocking one myself and I love it. It is a decent upgrade over the 2407FPW that I had before, especially when it comes to color gamut.
