I'm looking for one of those green 50mW laser pointers for cheap. one thats pen size or so, not much bigger.

I've noticed varying prices on the web from $20 - 300, and I'm beginning to think most of the cheap ones are probably not really 50mW.. and I really do want a real 50mW laser, one that can pop balloons and light matches on fire, and burn holes in soda cans.

Anyone got one? if so where'd you get it.

edit: my budget is something below $120ish

BTW the review says 50mW isn't powerful enough to pop balloons or burn paper.

You do realize that when you're burning a hole in a can, the light reflected by the can will burn you retina? Playing with those things is asking for trouble

you weeners are going to blind someone. visible wavelength lasers over 1mW cw are a blinding hazard, meaning powerful enough to burn the retina -- creating blind spots. working with this type of laser as part of your job requires eye protection.

I suggest you to look at this thread on CPF first, http://www.candlepowerforums.c...howthread.php?t=167718
Pretty sober reading. These two young guys that very well could have permanent damage from nor erring on the side of caution. Thanks for the link.

I just came across that thread. I wanted a powerful laser like one that would be powerful to pop a balloon. After reading some threads from CPF and the dangers about that, I got a 5mW instead. I wouldn't play with a >5mW laser without a safety goggle.
