$50 PK Electroincs 500VA UPS?

Anybody get the $50 PK Eletronics Blackout Buster 500VA UPS rebate from CompUSA back in June? I called the rebate center and they said that PK has extended the rebate pay-out date. The PK web site no longer exists, and the rebate center doesn't have a phone number for them. Any chance the CompUSA would give me the cash?

I called the rebate center many times for this. More than a month ago they told me PK electronics went out of business and CompUSA will pay for this. Last week I called in again, they told me CompUSA would not pay for this and you need to go back to the store where you bought it to get it. I went to the store and talked with the manager, he took down my name and told me they would mail me a check since this is $50. If less than $50, they can give you cash right away. So, go talk to the manager to get the money back. Good luck.

Same story here, was told 3 weeks ago that PK was out of business but Compusa will pay. Now you tell me I need to go back to the B&M. What a PITA.

Still no check, so I'll try the store route.

This should be in the Rebate Tracking Thread.

I went through the same cr@p with this rebate. Finally went to the store where I bought it from. They checked it out and gave me a $50 refund on my credit card. Actually, they gave me a refund for the entire original purchase price then rang it back up less $50.

Actually I forgot about my rebate, thanks for the reminder.
I found the PK site after doing some creative searching looking to see if they had different software for their UPS (worried about XP compatibility-couldn't find any help and the MonUPS works fine anyhow). I called them and got an answering machine but it was after hours so I am not sure but it seems they may still be around. Anyhow here's the site:

found my rebate was approved but i didnt received any check :| hopefully I'll be able to get my money from the store. wonder if I did have my reciept

Never buy any rebate crap!!!! <----unless its retail store rebates.

I received all (three of them total) of my rebates for PK Electronics UPS, I bought them on serveral occasions when CompUSA was offering $50 rebate on them. They all took more than four months to arrive though.

BTW, if you are looking for support try
NEXTGRID.

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear that PK Electronics went out of business. I bought one of their UPS's about three years ago, and it has saved my ass on a few occasions. One time, the wires that hook onto the power switch on my old AT case came loose and shorted out on my motherboard backplane... left a gigantic black mark about four inches long, but the power supply blew its fuse and kept any further damage from taking place. It turns out that their shop was just a single block down the street from where I lived at the time (they were in Scottsdale, AZ), so I called them up to see about getting a new fuse for it. They said to come on over, and when I got there, they gave me a small bag of fuses for my UPS for free. Very cool guys. I'll have to drive by there today and see if they really have gone out of business. I have to go over to that side of town today anyway.

Yes TheDon, I finally did receive my $50.00 rebate on 10/12/01 but not until after I called CompUSA and the rebate center to find out what the problem was. After my calls mysteriously my check appeared.

Well, I found a phone number for PK. The first time I called, I asked for customer service. The operator, (kid taking calls), transfered me to a phone that keep on ringing. I hung up and called right back and this time the kid answered "customer service" with a snicker. Guess he knew it was me calling back. I explained the situation to him and he said that they still plan on honoring the rebates, maybe in 6 to 8 weeks. I told him that I had been waiting for over 5 months already and I want my money now. He said I would have to wait. I then asked if PK was going out of business. He assured me that the company was doing well and had no intentions on going out of business. I'll beleive that one when I get my check!
