The description sais it's native res is 1366x768 though. That's kinda low for a 50inch isn't it? Shouldn't it be around 1920 x 1080 to be 1080i compatible?

EDIT: Nm I didn't read all the posts.

I bought this TV at old price of 2269 on Jan 4. Great TV for any price. Not one problem. Awesone HD picture & good to very good SD. More inputs than ne1 could need.

Did virtual return at costco and pocketed the 3 bills + tax after seeing the price reduction.

I love costco & vizio!!!!

Great display with a lot of features. This blows most LCDs and all DLPs out of the water at this price point.

If my unit has fan noise, I have never noticed. Tons of inputs

IMHO, there is no point on being on the bleeding edge of TVs until they are commoditized. 50" plasmas are at that point now, and hopefully by 2009 70" 1080P plasmas/LCDs will be there. Even most of the 1080P TVs are not capable of 1080P inputs (they upconvert 1080i to 1080p). So what is the point of buying an HDDVD, if you can't get the full capability?

1366x768 is a great resolution for right now. Nobody broadcasts above 1080i/30fps, and sports are great on 720p/60fps.

I went on vacation on my son had the gamecube constantly on the screen for pretty much 5 days stright. When I came back, there was "burn-in" on the screen _ I could see a faint rectangle where an on-screen display was constantly on the screen. It was very faint, but visible. However, this TV comes with an "Image Cleaner" feature built into the menu. This runs gray-scale bars across the screen. I ran this for a few minutes and all traces on any screen burn-in were gone. I'll be running the image cleaner every few weeks now - I'm glad it has this feature.

Hey guys, I'm shopping around for TV right now to go to my bedroom, maybe not quite as big as 50", maybe 42". I was wondering if you could help me out with technology. So many different technologies now it's crazy. DLP, LCD, and Plasma, which TV is better? Sounds like LCD is real good but what about viewing angles? I also heard for DLP TVs you need to change light bulbs every couple of years is that true?

Thanx

She then said if i bought a 1000$ tv and after 5 years tried to return it....they might find that unreasonable since you probably get your use out of it.... at least that's the response i got... and when you return it they don't get you a new tv they actuallyg ive yout he original amount you paid credited ... so its pretty nice. Ive never returned anything yet but i feel safe buying electonics from them...just a bitch to keep all the packaging around.

I worked at costco and the policy is lifetime its insane but i have heard stories of things like playstations being returned in pieces and things like that

Oh come on with these costco brands. Put them next to a samsung or sony screen and tell me the westinghouse comes close. Give me a 42 inch
samsung over a 50 inch vizio any day.

Any Costco brand will look better than any Samsung/Sony at the same price level.

For $1299 I can get a 37" 1080P LCD from Costco, in Samsung or Sony thats not even enough money for a 30" 1366x768.

So yeah, those "costco brands" stand up to your Pepsi challenge.

I got the Sceptre and it is great for a Computer display, 1080p is wonderful.
The TV tuner, imho, is horrible though.

I have a CRT PJ and it BLOWS this away except for light output,
even though the picture is 10' diagonal.

Having gotten the 42" (it sits on my desk directly in front of me) I think now
that a 37" would be optimal - the pixels are spread just a bit too far apart and
my eyes are doing a bit more of the side-to-side scanning than I like.

As a combination display for Computer and HTPC, in a small room, it can't be beat. I would NEVER get any of the less than 1920 x 1080 displays if I was going to use it as a computer monitor too - the loss would be quite noticeable. The 1366x768 monitor competes quite well for HDTV using 720p instead of 1080i, but cannot compete with 1080p as a computer display. The 42" 1080p displays will win big every time in that application.

wait wait, costco has lifetime warranty on all their products? except computers? I remember a while back that plasmas used to break after a couple years of usage for one reason or another. Hopefuly they fixed that but with life time warranty.....who would care.
