Anyone have any experience with the AMD notebook I checked on the net and got mixed reviews on the laptop. This biggest problem seem to the the heat from the system. If anyone has used this laptop let me know

No one's interested? a CUSA $499 AR got a bunch of attention but not an out the door cost of less than that much, and nothing?

The AMD lappy has much better specs.



-DDR1 not DDR2 (DDR2 has real bad timings and sucks for gaming)
-512 RAM Intel only has 256 ram
-3100 semporn vs the Intel 1.5
-15.4 WXGA vs the Intel 14.1 WXGA
-60 gig hd vs Intel's 40 gig

Not to mention, the 1.5 Intel is a Celeron Mobile 1.5, and the AMD is a 3100+ (1.8 GHz) non mobile cpu. So it should be faster...

For an extra $20, buy this AMD lappy...

According to the specifications on their web site, the cpu is the sempron mobil one. What is the socket type of these Sempron processors?

I would say it's a 754 chip, and if the website is right and it's a 256 cache chip, it's not a mobile chip...I say this because I can find retail 3100+ sempron chips with 256 cache...

I think the DDR/DDR2 is a moot point, as neither of the lappys are going to be good for gaming regardless.

Well I picked up the AMD one for my mom, but got charged $12 shipping and handling? oh well, no tax, still a good deal!
