I have had Cingular, back in the day when it was Pac Bell on the west coast, Nextel, ATT, and Verizon.

Verizon has been the best for me, ATT would drop calls all the time and I would get busy signals on the freeways. Verizon's CDMA network at 800Mhz gives better penetration into building than the PCS signals, the CDMA system also gets rid of backround noise, may ATT phones all sounded like I was talking from the Moon when I was driving. I travled a lot for business to Michigan, Hawaii, Boston, Washington, Oregon, Phoenix, Vegas, Florida and would use my personal Verizon phone over my Work ATT phone. Go with the better Technology, CDMA is a vast superior technology to TDMA that ATT uses, eventually once they have a full GSM network it might be better but it will still be way behind CDMA in Call capacity and the features of the 1X 2.5G system. Just my 2 cents. Sprint also has the CDMA system but by using the PCS frequencies every where you need approx 2 cellsites for every one 800Mhz Verizon/ATT site, they are still a year or 2 off from having full coverage and filling in the gaps. Nextel is pretty good there are still holes in their coverage, cingular is o'k, I just know there are areas off the beaten path that do not have GSM coverage.

This is all just my opinion!!!

I just called up AT@T wireless and they got me switched over no sweat from my original $34.99 national network deal that just offered 300 anytime and unlimited nights and weekends. Same price for more anytime minutes is a good promotion. AT@T works great in California with my experience. My sister is also enjoying her Verizon phone in CA.

I've had Sprint and AT&T and they are both terrible. I'm in the Houston area and I've had so many dropped calls. Sprint was the worse: the receiving end of the call couldnt hear what I was saying even when I got my phone replaced. I'm with Voicestream right now and I'm somewhat satisfied except the fact that I hear my own echos during calls. Also, it would be better if they offered Nigh & Weekend minutes instead of just Weekend. I would take the deal in a second if it wasn't offered by AT & T. Is there anybody else in the Houston area that has a good deal like (600 anytime- unlimited night/weekends or at least in the 1000s) that doesn't get terrible service?

Does some have the link for the $30 Nokia 3360 rebate? For some reason I can't seem to find it. Would you please post if you have it or pm me? Thanks!

I am on the 34.99 national network plan also, but 300/3000Weekends&Night here tho
I called ATT wireless also and they gave the the crap that the 200 anytime promotion is not in the system, etc. Then I told the rep. to go to their own attws.com site and take a look. She came back like 2 mins and add the 200 anytime mins for me.

btw, my phone is V60, which I got like a month ago in a computer show. I got that for free before the V60 $100MIR

has anyone been able to get this to work when in a different zip code?
for instance, boston has 250 mobile to mobile minutes instead of the 200 anytime
but texas has the 200 anytime

would a csr allow you to get the 200 instead of 250? the physical store in boston wouldnt allow it, saying the promotion hadnt come to boston yet

1. Verizon
2. NexTEL
3. SoutherLinc
4. Cingular
5. AllTel
6. VoiceStream
7. Sprint PCS
8. AT&T Wireless
9. SunCom

Of course it varies greatly from area to area, but that is about how they rate currently. Just my opinion though, after A LOT of research.

You're right, it varies greatly from area to area. Because believe me, in NYC, that's not how it is at all. Sprint is WAY at the bottom of that list, and AT&T is a lot higher up . I don't know about any of the other ones, but I've heard quite a few complaints about Verizon. VoiceStream seems alright, a friend of mine has it, and even though he seems to struggle more with reception than me, the service is pretty good. However, in terms of minutes, my deal is vastly superior to his.

Seeing the deals out right now, however, I'd like to be able to lower the amount I pay per month -- $40 + $4 insurance (which I should probably get rid of) + ~$8 extras, fees & taxes. That adds up to way too much. Unlimited N&W starting at 8pm is sweet, and 300 anytime seems to be enough for me, but I don't really enjoy burning ~$52 a month. I'd be okay with something like $40 or so a month. Of course, my contract doesn't expire until december, although I could always take advantage of that "change" that allows you to cancel now... But I probably won't.

edit: woops, turns out it's 400 anytime minutes...
