Calvary doesn't make HD's--it just puts other maker's HD's in their enclosures to make external HD's.

I jumped on the last buy.com/cavalry 500GB SATA to USB2.0 non-one-button-backup and sent my rebate in on the last acceptable day ... July 3rd, I think.
I haven't gotten any confirmation as of yet.

The rebate form for this unit requires you to get a Request # that must appear on the envelope for the rebate submission to even be accepted. If you go to the URL they give there doesn't appear to be any way to get a Request #. If anyone has succeeded in getting a Request #, would you please post how you did it. $30 is too much to lose on a jumping through a hoop technicality -- if it is possible to do it.

Thanks for the reply. My purchase from Buy.com was made during the rebate period for which I printed out the rebate form. The problem is that the rebate form requires you to log in and get a rebate registration number which must then be written on the envelope in which you submit the rebate for them to even open and consider the rebate submission. They have apparently closed down the link from which you get the rebate registration number. I was hoping someone might know how to still get one -- otherwise I have paid $124.95 for a drive that was advertised to be $94.95 after rebate. Wouldn't be the first time I have been screwed out of a rebate -- but I never give up without trying.

I went to the url and it asks you to register your rebate/drive. It looks like they will give you the request # (perhaps through email) after you do that. If not, there is an email address rebate@cavalrystorage.com to send questions to. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I had tried logging in to the URL on the rebate form and was not getting the rebate registration page. May have had an error in what I typed, but then it should simply have not opened at all. At any rate encouraged by what you said I logged in again and got the rebate registration page. I now have to wait for the drive to get here -- it's in transit -- and then apply for the rebate registration #.

I recieved my drive earlier this week. It's certainly built solid. It appears to be and feels like a it's a step above my other usb drives in quality. It's HEAVY! It's nice and fast, the fan isn't loud at all. The fan is actually very quiet and there is a switch on the drive to activate the fan or disable it.

I bought one and I'm glad I did! Now all I have to to is get the rebate but it's a sweet deal even w/o the reabate and a hot and sweet deal with the rebate.
