i CLEARLY explained in the sub title- geeez guys.
to me, posting a deal about a single drive at 80.99 shipped wasnt an attention getter, but when one considers they can get 500gb of sweet perpendicular tech for $162 it speaks to reason.

GOOD! I would get two myself but I allready invested in 2 crappy 7200.8s a few months ago
now, dont be surprised if these show up at Frys/outpost for $10-20 less in retail soon, but ya never know.

7200.10s are unknown for good/bad because they have only been out recently

7200.9s and 7200.10s are unknown on StorageReview, but from all the people I've been listening to, they seem OK. I won't say jump on 10 of these, but I will say htey are probably OK.

now, I do have a 7200.8 adn I recognize that they are fvcked up drives. I returned mine twice and now I have a 7200.9 (upgrade from Seagate). My 7200.9 has yet to fail, but then again its only been 2 months, so we'll have to see.....

The 250gbs arenot that good because they are 2 x 125gb platters? I forgot how 7200.10 platters work, but the 320gb is ur fastest drive.

In my opinion most seagate 8m/16mb drives are all good- including alot of 7200.8 drives. I know certain batch(es) had problems, but Me and my boss have 5 of the 250s with no problems.
Yeah- Im sure the 320 is best performance considering platter and twice the cache. But this deal seems conducive for those looking to have a 500gb raid stripe,

There is two parts to the title- read
WHen posting, the main title only allows so many characters- I just now discovered you can add more characters in post edit mode than it would allow me in primary post mode so I have updated it.
This deal isnt particularly interesting to those looking for a single 250gb drive (compared to many frys/outpost past deals), but is for someone looking for 500gb worth of space for less than a single drive's bloated costs. Hence why I primarily emphasized 500gb

the bottomline here is $81 for a seagate 250gb 7200.10 : (8mb cache). and that's not exactly a "hot deal." even with your note to compare 2 of them to the single 500gb drive. ~ $81 is regular price.

your heading should simply state "seagate 250gb 7200.10 $81 @newegg"

edit: with all do respect

I've allready explained myself above your post...
If the premise of this thread doesnt appeal to you then you are in the wrong thread.

ps- I wouldnt call $81 "regular price"
here is everyone elses price on this drive:
http://www.pricegrabber.com/p__Seagate_...88/zip_code=30214/sort_type=bottomline

closest is buy.com at $91.99 shipped($11 more)
so $11 cheaper than any place else sounds like a deal to me- definitely warm, hot -maybe.

Seagate makes a 16mb cache version of the 250gb 7200.10, but it sells for about $100 most places so the 329gb version is better.

I'd jump on a couple of these if I didn't just get 2 new Raptors on Monday
