You might consider an nForce board. I've found them to be as or more stable than the Via boards, the onboard sound/lan are great, the onboard video (GeForce2MX) might even be sufficient.I am building a simple system for my daughter.

Maybe an Asus A7N-266VM? $68 @ Newegg.
The only problem I have with TCWO is: *OEM CPU's come with a 20 day warranty without fan purchase, 1 year warranty with fan purchase.Originally posted by: lchen66666
Just found it at tcwo.com.
XP1700 is even cheaper than XP1600.
Not if stability is an issue. I have had 3 that are shaky at best. I like anything AMD-761 based, if performance is not an issue. The problem I had is pretty much detailed HERESounds like a good situation for an ECS K7S5A

The ECS K7S5A, once set up right, has a reputation of being stable as hell. It didn't get to be the best selling motherboard ever based on price alone.
