i would guess that the cost of basing out of LAX would be alot more, and the # of flight in and out of LAX is already very limited.

Very true.......its not that I care, i just think its funny, that my RAM got shipped pretty much from one end of the country to the other and back.

just ordered my second stick. unfortunately forgot to use ebates first time around. didn't forget the second time. that 4% is nice. gonna have 2 sticks for my xp system. hope they play nice with the kingston already sitting inside. maybe I'll sell the kingston and go for crucial triplets.

make sure you're running linux, NT, 2000 or XP if you plan to go over 512MB. 98SE and below won't handle it. found out the hard way last year. see the microsoft article on win98 512MB limit. luckily I had a buyer for the extra 256MB stick.

windows 2000 is the only way to go... give that kingston up for adoption and get those crucial triplets.... you know you want to.. dont forget to get those thermaltake heatspreaders for coolness factor..

As Rally1 said, FDX base themselves in Memphis is because of Operational/Labor Costs, Local Government Tax/Revenue incentives and Geographical advantage (its located right in the middle of the country) Renting hangars and cargo facilities in LAX would cost them too much. Fedex has a very streamlined system where flights follow one and another and the packages gets transitted like this until it reaches the destination. Sorry for this long talk but I've just finished writing some research on FDX.

w00t! got it about 1/2 hr ago.. micron chips.. installed smoothly in the dell dimension 4400.. i love that case.. easiest install to do..

took out a 256MB samsung ddr that came with the 4400 and will soon install that into my system for a total of 768MB.. hopefullly it'll play nice with my other ddr, since they're both samsung...

gonna put my kingston up for adoption. received my first stick yesterday, second will arrive at work today, and ordered the third stick just now. it'll probably ship out this afternoon for delivery tomorrow.

just change your email address to get multiple orders. that's all they check coupon usage against. don't forget ebates 4% too!

you guys are crazy... id love to get a gig or more of memory.. but strapped for cash.. and i think that 768MB will do until i get a new system.. hopefully by then, prices will have dipped alittle more.. it would be nice to run a system without a pagefile..

is it worth it to still buy PC2100 if im buying it for a system that'll probably be a Hammer system (or perhaps a T-bred if the hammer takes too long)? do we know what FSB the hammer will be running yet? the T-bred will still be 266 DDR.....and the performance of memory at 166 and CPU at 133 isn't such an amazing jump, right?

i just bought two WD 120GB today already....jus need some encouragement to buy some RAM now.

Did everyone end up getting Micron chips? I'm guess this will get along fine with my 512MB Samsung DDR (paid $152 few months back).

uwannawhat: yeah, this time around, i got micron chips.. feel sort of cheated last time since i paid ~$165 (darn ca tax) for samsung chips from crucial.. and now i can get some with micron ~$132. as long as it runs fine i guess. working great in my dell dimension4400..
