Anyone know if Nanya chips are any good??

Edit: It looks like this memory may not be CAS2 according to user tests...however it IS advertised as CAS2

I picked some of this stuff up last week. Arrived Monday, I have yet to test it out. I'll let you know tomorrow or so. It's supposed to be PC133 CAS2, but we'll see. Shipping is decent, not the best, but they don't overcharge...too much.

I've been staying away from this forum because i'm broke, so i don't really know what prices are good for what but this is sick! just a few months ago i bought a stick of 256 133 cas 2 crucial mem for $80. Now you can buy twice as much for nearly half the price... I'll restate my first comment:

I couldn't get mine work at CAS 2(fsb @140) !!!
It was even unstable at CAS 3 (fsb @140) so I put my Crucial memory back in.

Maybe it would work with fsb@133 but that's not good for my 1gig overclocked to 1.4 (10x 140fsb)
I have the MSI KT7 Raid with the Via KT133 chipset.

This should be good for my other machine 1gig @ 100fsb .

I there any way to tell if these are high density modules? I don't believe it would work on my Asus P3V4X motherboard if they are. Usually the super-cheap RAM always turns out to be high density.

I also found high density 512MB chips at Edge Micro for $58. It doesn't mention anywhere that it is CAS2 though. So...I am assuming that the ones at PCLiquidator are also high density. Man, how I wish I had a motherboard that supported this!

It is very unlikely that this is CAS2 133MHz.
Not even crucial has CAS2 133 512MB Chips up ..
they only do CAS2+100 MHz or 133Mhz+CAS3
Be wary

Rebuilder, could you try the memory out with fsb@133 to see if it truly is CAS2? Many of us are curious...

Rebuilder, if you could test out that RAM at 133 it would be greatly appreciated! I need to get some more ram and heck...for the price I don't really care if it's cas 2 or cas 3 so long as it works at PC133.

OK, I swapped out the memory again.

Results:
133 fsb cas3 works fine
140 fsb cas3 no workie
133 fsb cas2 no workie

I didn't try 100fsb because I didn't have time to find the jumper pin to change to 100 from 133.


If you can live with cas 3 then this memory seems to work fine if your board supports it.

Should change the title cause it really is a little misleading cause the ram doesn't run at cas2. I've never seen or used 521MB chips that were cas 2.

I agree, but it is advertised as CAS2.

Rebuilder, when did you buy this memory from pcliquidator? When I last looked, it was marked as &quot;just in&quot;. Perhaps the memory shipping now is different?

I received it about a week ago.
I guess I could send it back because they misrepresented it but honestly I knew there was only a slight chance of Cas2 and I can still use it in another machine.

I don't think they refresh their &quot;just in&quot; section very much because that's what it said a couple of weeks ago.

The Overclockerz Store has a very low 3.8 rating.. but it outta be a 2.0 because I've heard tons of horror stories and that ram is not pc150 at 2 2 2
